Next Up: iSun3D steps into industrial FDM.

iSun3D, the hardware sister company to filament maker eSun, just unveiled the Next series of three industrial-size FDM 3D printers at Formnext Asia, designed for both elastomers (TPU, TPE, PEBA) and engineering materials, with configurations reaching build volumes of up to 520 x 520 x 1,200 mm. The move suggests iSun3D is putting its experience in specialized production into a broader industrial FDM offering, pairing hardware with eSun’s extensive materials portfolio. There is currently no indication that Next will be marketed outside China, but the shift is one worth keeping on the radar.

Prusa's surprise update this month to its Core One and XL printers obscured something.

Did you know you can buy the Core One+ (Gen 2) with the INDX upgrade fully assembled and calibrated? Starting at $1,999 for the 4-tool version ($2,249 for the 8-tool) it ships mid-October.

User reports over the past weeks and months tell of a potentially fraught and tricky build from the kit, with fragile printed mounts and fiddly spoolholder placement. So, if you've yet to jump on the Core One+ INDX train, you can save yourself some hassle and get it shipped, assembled and ready to go. We've got one, and will be unpacking it (in every sense of the word) over the coming weeks.

Out-of-Context Printing
If you're reading this, it's likely you know a 3D print when you see one.

Encountering one doing a real job out in the wild is rare enough that when I do, it stops me in my tracks. Last week it was this, an unassuming, battered-looking mount locking a Nintendo Switch 2 to its display. Spotted as I hastily browsed a duty-free tech store at Manchester Airport, UK.

I can't be the only one who gets a little pang of delight spotting a print when I least expect it, can I?

If you nerd out over out-of-context 3D printing too, snap a picture and send it to editors@all3dp.com with a description. We may feature it in a homepage bulletin just like this one.

Less Mass, More Muscle
New super cubic lattice discovery is nearly 380% stiffer without adding material.

Likely not coming to your infill pattern library anytime soon, but UCL researchers have 3D printed and compression-tested a “triply twinned” lattice that is up to 380% stiffer and 279% stronger than a conventional cubic lattice at similar material density. It's a potentially useful upgrade for lightweight aerospace, automotive, robotic, implant, and heat-exchanger parts where every gram has to earn its keep.
