All3DP, founded in 2015, is an editorially independent magazine. We choose what we cover, we test what we recommend, and we publish what we find. We work hard to create original content that is truthful, accurate, objective, impartial, fair, and accountable.
We also take money from companies in the industry we write about. That is how the magazine exists without a paywall. This page explains exactly what that money buys and — more importantly — what it does not.
Nobody outside the editorial team decides what our verdict is. Manufacturers do not read our articles before you do. They cannot request changes, they cannot soften a score, and they cannot stop a review from being published.
Some of our content is funded by the companies it discusses. Every piece of that content is labelled on the page itself, before you start reading. If there is no label, no money changed hands.
Commissioned Testing
Our lab has finite bench time and a long queue. Manufacturers can pay a fee to secure a slot in that queue and have a machine put through our standard test protocol.
What the fee buys: our time, our equipment, and a published article.
What the fee does not buy: the result.
Commissioned tests use the same protocol, the same measurements, the same scoring, and the same editorial sign-off as every other review we run. Specifically:
Where a review is carried out by a freelance contributor, the contributor is not told whether their assignment is commissioned. Contributors agree to this in general when they sign with us, and are never informed in the specific case.
Review Units
Review samples are provided at the manufacturer’s expense. Receiving hardware creates no obligation to cover it, and no obligation to be kind about it. Manufacturers do not see reviews before publication.
We prefer that manufacturers reclaim review samples and arrange return shipping at their expense. Those that cannot be reclaimed are donated locally or held in storage pending donation.
The editorial team sets the calendar. Editors choose the topics, the products, the sources, and the angle. Our commercial team sells advertising and commissioned work; it does not assign stories, edit copy, or approve articles, and it has no vote on what a review or an article discusses or concludes.
Our editorial staff have no financial interest in the manufacturers we cover. Staff and contributors may not accept payments, gifts, equipment, or other benefits from companies in the industry. For freelancers, breaching this ends the contract.
Buyer’s Guides, Rankings & Awards
Our buyer’s guides and best-of lists are built from editorial testing only. Commissioned tests do not feed into rankings, recommendations, or awards, and a paid test cannot win a machine a place in a guide.
Awards are decided by the editorial team on testing evidence. We do not charge for awards.
Commissioned Editorial
Brands can fund coverage of a specific development — a product launch, a technical milestone, a piece of research.
Funding does not create a story. The editorial team first decides, independently, whether the subject is genuinely newsworthy and whether it is something we would have covered on its own merits. If it isn’t, we say no and no money is taken. We decline more of these than we accept.
Once commissioned, the article is reported, written, and edited by All3DP staff to normal editorial standards. That includes context the funder may not enjoy: pricing criticism, comparisons with competitors, unresolved questions, and history. The funder does not see the piece before publication and cannot approve, amend, delay, or withdraw it.
All3DP’s management, editorial staff, and freelancers adhere to a clear ethics policy. The editorial team chooses the topics, sources, and products it wants to cover without external influence. Our staff has no direct association with the manufacturers or companies we cover.

We’re here to cover the industry without bias. All our reviews, awards, and opinions are the product of our editorial staff, a team of digital media professionals with years of experience producing tech news, consumer reviews, in-depth features, and comprehensive guides. Our staff and writers maintain complete independence from our advertising efforts.
Writers Compensation
All3DP pays freelancers for their content generation. The editorial staff directs all topics. Contributors are not permitted to accept payments, gifts, or other benefits from manufacturers. Violation of these terms will incur contract termination.
Press Trips & Events
We sometimes attend factory visits, launches, and trade events where the organiser covers travel or accommodation. When an article results from such a trip, we say so in the article.
Accepting an invitation is not a commitment to publish, and it is not a commitment to publish anything positive. We do not accept payment for attendance, fees for coverage arising from a trip, or any pre-agreed editorial outcome, and organisers see no copy in advance.
Conflicts of Interest
Staff and contributors declare any relationship — financial, professional, or personal — with a company or product they are asked to cover, and are reassigned where a conflict exists. Where a conflict is relevant to a published piece and reassignment isn’t practical, we disclose it in the article.
Should we make factual mistakes in our published articles, we will update or remove the offending content and issue a clearly marked update when necessary.
We can get things wrong. When we do:

Correcting an error is not something a manufacturer can buy, and refusing to invent one is not something they can appeal.
Quality content is time-consuming and costly to produce. We do not want to put a monetary barrier between readers and our content or give up our editorial independence, so we finance ourselves through advertising and affiliate revenues. This lets us keep All3DP free and independent.
Advertising and affiliation referral programs are All3DP’s primary source of revenue. When you click on a shopping link on our site and decide to buy that product, we get a small percentage from the manufacturer for that purchase.
Advertisers can book dedicated ad spots on All3DP as outlined in our advertising kit, but we don’t allow sponsored links, guest posts, paid reviews, or external interference in buyer’s guides or other articles on All3DP. Manufacturers can book advertising articles called “sponsored content” on our website. To distinguish between editorial and ad copy, these sponsored articles are clearly marked as advertising in the headline and within the article. The byline will show the company name.
Our company advertising team is responsible for establishing advertising partnerships. Under no circumstances do our staff or writers benefit from advertising deals or positive coverage.

Except where noted, All3DP editorial articles may be republished in full and unchanged, with attribution, under a Creative Commons CC BY-ND 4.0 licence. Images are not covered — ask us.
Commissioned testing, commissioned editorial, and sponsored content are excluded from this licence and may not be republished. Republishing an article that carries commercial funding would strip it of the context that makes it honest.
We license, buy, or shoot our own images, use press photography, or credit creators with a do-follow link. We may adjust lighting, crop, or background. Digital renderings are labelled as renderings. If you believe an image of yours has been used improperly, contact us.
Craftcloud is a 3D printing price-comparison marketplace operated by All3DP. When we link to it, we are linking to our own business and we may earn from your order.
We say so on the page every time. Craftcloud is never presented as an independent recommendation, and where an article compares print services, Craftcloud is assessed against competitors on the same criteria as everyone else or excluded from the comparison entirely.
