PLAying Safe
Raising standards in the name of safety is something to be celebrated.

UK-based Filamentive has announced that its PLA and PLA Matte filaments are now EN 71-3 + A2:2024 compliant, certifying them safe regarding the leaching of regulated elements should they be ingested or come into contact with children.

The news also serves as a reminder that the devil is in the detail with such things. The raw material is certified safe, but prints from it (which introduce the variables of specific printing parameters, environment, geometry, etc.) aren't, unless independently tested. As a starting point though, hats off to them.

It's Settled
Pop Mart's beef with Bambu Lab appears to be over.

Following our report from a fortnight ago, Chinese media and an official Weibo statement from Bambu Lab confirm a settlement has been reached after "friendly consultations." No specifics have been disclosed, though the agreement sees off the April 2 court date set out in the lawsuit.

The dispute began when Pop Mart sued Bambu Lab and MakerWorld for IP infringement regarding unauthorized Labubu 3D models. Bambu Lab has apologized for the "distress" caused and confirmed what we already knew – that it has removed all relevant content from its platform.

Weekend Poll
So, Creality is launching a filament recycler soon.

Repeatedly remelting and reforming thermoplastics isn't a great idea if you plan to use those parts in real-world jobs subjected to stress – but there's a place for it. Creality paints a mixed picture of scrap recycling and experimentation with custom recipes. But what would you use the system for, if you had one?
