Rosa3D’s Glass-Fiber TPU 75D Is Built for the Engine Bay, Not the Parts Bin

Tough, durable, and chemically resistant, this new glass-fiber reinforced TPU is a technical composite for demanding environmental and mechanical conditions, say Rosa3D. At a Shore hardness of 75D, it bends, but it'll take a lot to break.

No Industrial Composting Needed: Is This $27 “Regenerative” PLA+ a Sustainability Game-Changer?

Even plant-based PLA often marketed as "green" requires industrial composting facilities to truly decompose. This new material breaks down in ordinary landfills in under five years.

‘Blood of My Enemies’ Red’ Is a Real Filament Name, but They Get Weirder

In a world with an ever-growing roster of filaments, it's not easy for them to stand out. One way to do it? Adding a splash of dramatic or witty flair with a goofy, eye-catching name.

Rosa3D Launches Foaming PLA and TPU That Expand as They Print for Lighter Parts

Polish filament manufacturer Rosa3D has launched two new foaming filaments: PLA LW Aero and TPU Flex LW. Both rely on active foaming chemistry – a blowing agent embedded in the filament – to expand the extrusion at printing temperatures.

PLAying Safe
Raising standards in the name of safety is something to be celebrated.

UK-based Filamentive has announced that its PLA and PLA Matte filaments are now EN 71-3 + A2:2024 compliant, certifying them safe regarding the leaching of regulated elements should they be ingested or come into contact with children.

The news also serves as a reminder that the devil is in the detail with such things. The raw material is certified safe, but prints from it (which introduce the variables of specific printing parameters, environment, geometry, etc.) aren't, unless independently tested. As a starting point though, hats off to them.

Good News, EUveryone
Polymaker has just launched official stores in select EU territories,

offering 20% off plus free shipping through the end of March. Great news for filament fans in Czechia, Germany, Poland, France, Spain, and the UK (UK store launching early March).

In addition to the benefit of quicker, local shipping, buying direct gives you the chance to earn savings through the company’s PolyCoins reward scheme and, crucially, save big in the Restock Day sales, which typically see up to 35% off sitewide.

The grand opening discount stacks with Polymaker's bundle builder discount (I checked) so you can potentially save 35% already if you order 10 spools or more.

Kick It Up
We're not necessarily advocates for printing shoes at home,

as shown by our recent dive into self-fabricated footwear. But if you've been bitten by that particular bug, Bambu Lab's latest color drop for its flexible TPU 90A material gives you a slick new option. Called Quicksilver, this metallic filament certainly has a mercurial (ha) quality to it. It sneakily featured in the company's recent Formism collab ahead of its release. You can pick some up from the Bambu Lab webstore.
