Gravity, Engineered
"My attempt to 3D print the most complicated thing I can think of."

Will Morrison, a systems integration engineer at 3D printer manufacturer Formlabs, successfully 3D printed one of the most memorizing prints we've ever seen. This 3D printed Marble Fountain took Morrison eight months to develop and 65 3D print iterations before it worked flawlessly. Printed on Formlabs Form 4 and Form 4L. Find out here how he designed it in CAD.

Lit from Within
1,000 hours to handcraft the original, waaaay less to 3D print one.

The Scarab Vase, a masterpiece by porcelain artist Adelaide Alsop Robineau, is the subject of a new exhibition at the Everson Museum of Art in N.Y. called "Touching History" that pairs the original with a replica scanned and printed by Budmen Industries using a proprietary 3D printer and "nylon-like resin". In a practice that more museums are turning to, visitors can now touch and better appreciate the art object, rather than just viewing it behind glass.

New Chapter
Atlix is the new name for the former Trumpf Additive Manufacturing, marking its official launch at Formnext 2025.

Even though the branding is new, the company says it’s keeping the same focus on reliable metal 3D printing while becoming more "agile and customer-focused". Atlix is also unveiling its next-gen TruPrint 5000 machine, built for big, complex parts and faster, more automated production. The message: new name, same expertise—plus bigger ambitions for the future.

Making Waves
From Guinness World Record-setting 3D printed boat to defense-ready hulls.

Evergreen Additive, just spun out of the Univ. of Maine's Advanced Structures & Composites Center, which brought us the world's largest 3D printed boat (in 2019). The start-up will specialize in commercial boat hulls and marine tooling, particularly unmanned military vessels. After a Navy-funded program saw them take a 6-meter vessel from CAD model to successful sea trials in just five months, the founders realized their tech was too "transformative" to stay in the lab.
