Take To the Skies
What happens when you strap a 3D printer to a giant RC plane?

RC aircraft specialists FliteTest found out, and it went about as well as you'd expect.

Impressively, the Elegoo Centauri Carbon that they strapped wings and motors to managed to print through the flight, even surviving its inevitably violent return to the ground.

Another Twist
Bambu Lab wants the Stratasys lawsuit dismissed in the Eastern District of Texas – but not Austin.

The lawsuit was initially filed in the Eastern District; now Bambu Lab has called for a dismissal there, 3D Printing Industry reports. Stratasys is suing Bambu Lab for alleged infringements the latter argues are the responsibility of Bambu Lab USA, which is excluded from the filing.

The Eastern District is something of a hot spot for patent lawsuits, with local rules that streamline such cases and a reputation of being plaintiff-friendly. There's a parallel case in the Austin division of the Western District of Texas, though. So, even if the dismissal works, the case won't be over.

Bugging Out
Forget birdhouses, the real estate boom is for bugs.

Move over five-star resorts: Raphaël Emine just opened the world’s tiniest, trendiest hotel… for bugs. Using WASP’s high-tech ceramic 3D printers, the artist created beautiful luxury penthouses for the insect elite. Think honeycomb suites, wormhole corridors, and spiderweb balconies – nature’s version of avant-garde architecture. Who knew termites had such refined taste? But watch the insect Airbnb tour for yourself, or visit the 'Entomological Utopias' at Marseille’s Parc Maison Blanche.

Take a Hike
Electronics could see steep price increases in the US if Trump's "computer chip tariff" is imposed.

The US President said he's planning the tariff "in an effort to get the producers to make them in the United States" on Monday, Reuters reports, following plans for a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico on Feb 1, and other threats directed at imports from the EU and China.

The US produces just 12% of the world's semiconductors, according to a 2020 report by the Semiconductor Industry Association report. Despite that, the US market is responsible for 50.2% of global sales revenue.
