Maker Meets Military
Meet HANX: The U.S. Marine Corp's first official 3D printed drone.

Sgt. Henry David Volpe with the 2nd Marine Logistics Group proudly shows off the HANX drone he designed, which is the Marine Corps' first National Defense Authorizing Act-compliant, 3D printed drone, providing "a secure and adaptable aerial platform for the modern warfighter," the Corps says. NDAA compliant means it is resilient to backdoor programs from adversaries, making it a device that can be used by any Marine for their mission.

Weekend Poll
There are more shoe models, flexible materials, and printers that can print them than ever.

But do you care?

Every week sees a new shoe-centric foaming, flexible or otherwise footwear-aligned material release vying for your attention (and sole – ha). I've toyed with printing super soft filaments, but the results have varied wildly. How about you? Have you printed you own shoes at home? What about buying a pair?

Free. Easy. Blender.
This free course turns Blender’s scary interface into a surprisingly approachable tool for 3D printing.

The CAD software Blender may look like the cockpit of a spaceship, but a new free course aims to prove you don’t need a pilot’s license to make cool, 3D printable stuff. 3D Printing with Blender, taught by Blender veteran Hjalti Hjalmarsson, walks beginners through the full process: designing, modeling, troubleshooting, and fixing objects destined for your printer. It’s entry-level, it’s practical, it demystifies the scary buttons, and best of all it’s free… just like Blender itself.
