U.S. medical device startup Nanochon was just approved to start human clinical trials in Canada of its 3D printed implant to repair damaged joint cartilage. The Chondrograft implant replaces a multi-surgery, weeks-long, process that leaves you on crutches for months (not fun!), with a minimally invasive one-step procedure for immediate load-bearing. The company says it's cost-effective, too, and could significantly reduce the number of eventual total joint replacements.
BMW Group's plastic waste generated from 3D printing hundreds of thousands of parts each year, which had been disposed of, along with shredded used parts, is now processed into new filament and distributed across BMW's global production network.
