Fathers' Day Gifts - Best Models Stylish Bowtie

What is it? While on the topic of 3D printed fashion accessories, it would be foolish to not mention 3D printed bowties. They are fun, nerdy, stylish, and just plain cool! 3dglauber has published both Stylish Bowties 1.0 and 2.0. Thankfully, 3dglauber is both a 3D modeler and a model. The picture of him wearing each tie may help you decide which version to print. Worst case scenario, if you can’t decide which to print, your dad can get two awesome bowties that he won’t have to tie.

Both bowties print with your layer height of choice, with supports and 30% infill. At 0.2 mm layer height, they take a bit under 3 hours and 35 grams of material each. You may notice that the design is tiny in Cura. It was modeled using inches, so it must be scaled up to 2540%

Who designed it? 3dglauber

Who printed it? Both versions of the bowtie have less than ten makes on Thingiverse. Perhaps that is because you don’t have to print this to gift it for father’s day. You can also buy it on Etsy.

What is it? Who doesn’t love tractors? Dads sure do! In fact, this Thingiverse model was actually designed for the designer’s father. Makeitpro says, “As an homage to my father and his first tractor I proudly present my next project, the OpenRC tractor. It’s an open source 1/10 scale replica of an original Ebro 160D tractor. I designed it all from scratch and 3D printed all parts. Then, I added some electronics, nuts, and bolts and I made it work!” Thanks to this published project, you can make one for your dad too!

Obviously, this is not just a 3D printing project. You will have to allow some time for assembly and adding the electronics. But Makeitpro’s helpful build guides and lists of materials will make sourcing parts a breeze. Also, plan on buying some flexible material. Black flexible filament with 0% infill makes for wonderful tires.
