Ancient Bladesaw

We kick off our list with one of the most epic projects. If you’re a fan of Breath of the Wild and want to challenge your patience and fit a project with a ridiculous amount of parts into your schedule, then you’re looking at the perfect prop.

The bladesaw is made with 152 individual parts and was modeled in Fusion 360. Of course, you’ll need more than just a 3D printer to fully recreate this with LEDs. The Instructables project gives detailed instructions with lots of photos, because you’ll probably need some pointers for this one.

Who printed it? Apart from the designer, no MyMiniFactory users have uploaded images, but it does have over close to 500 downloads and almost 8,000 views.

Traveler's Bow

In Breath of the Wild, the bow is an item used by travelers for protection that Link can equip himself with and use. Although it doesn’t do a lot of damage, it can be used to attack enemies from a distance, and it definitely makes us want to pick up archery.

The project includes five files, but four of them need to be printed twice for a total of nine parts to assemble. You’ll also need some thin elastic for the string of the bow. The creator did offer some extra tips about putting it together, so make sure you read all the fine print before getting started.

Guardian Sword & Thunder Helm

Print either, or both!
Print either, or both! (Source: Adafruit via Pinshape)

This set of 3D printed helm and sword from Breath of the Wild is no less than amazing. The sword is 34 inches long and has over 90 NeoPixels. It’s not only cool to look at; it will last longer than most of the other weapons in the game.

The designer used translucent filament for the blade that will let the light shine through. With the electronics and programming required, you’ll want to follow the full instructions from Adafruit.

The helm is a unique piece of armor. It’s described as a precious heirloom passed down among the Gerudo and is traditionally worn only by the Gerudo chief. This life-size helm takes about 16 hours to print, and is fairly easy to put together. Just don’t expect it to deflect lightning strikes when you wear it out in a thunderstorm!

These incredible props were in Fusion 360 with meticulous detail. There are also great videos showcasing how the sword and helm are created, and thorough instructions for the builds on the Adafruit website.

If the long construction is too much for you but you’re skill keen to get your hands on the sword, it’s also sold by prop makers on Aesthetic Cosplay and Etsy.

Who made it? adafruit

Who printed it? The sword has 22 Makes and 5 Remixes on Thingiverse, including a Remix for smaller printable parts, if your print space isn’t up to the task. As for the helm, no other makers have shared their prints, but it does have 300 likes on Thingiverse.

Ancient Spear

This ancient spear is another amazing weapon from Breath of the Wild. Although you don’t need “countless hours of research in the ancient technology used by the guardians”, you’ll still need to put in a considerable amount of time and effort to compile this 98-part ancient weapon. Worth the effort? Most definitely!

This is another project that, due to the lighting, will need some extra parts to finish off. When it comes to programming, the creator recommends following the guide provided by Adafruit for their Guardian Sword (above).

Ravio, Link’s Lorule counterpart, appeared in A Link Between Worlds. This life-size Ravio’s Hood is split into six files for ease of printing on a small bed. Alternatively, there’s an all-in-one file if you have a larger space, or would prefer to cut it up yourself.

Assembly is as simple as gluing the pieces together, and from the photos it looks like it comes out great, though it must be heavy to wear! The designer printed with supports and with a 15% infill. But beware, you might get transformed into a 2D painting once you put it on.

Master Sword

There are many different versions of the Master Sword out there, but of course we had to include a glowing version, because why not? This design also includes a beautifully detailed sheath to complete the look.

This remixed version was inspired by the programming of Adafruit’s guardian sword, using ChaosCoreTech’s master sword model as a base. If you’d prefer the sword without the hassle of the lighting, then the ChaosCoreTech model is the one for you.

As with the ancient spear, you’ll want to follow Adafruit’s guardian sword programming instructions. This design is also intended for a large print bed, with pieces measuring 450 to 525 mm in length. If you’re working with a smaller build space, you’ll need to further cut up the parts.

If you’re a fan of all kinds of games, tabletop as well as video, then this is a must-have model! This dice tower was based on a MiniWorld model of Death Mountain from Ocarina of Time, but scaled to twice the height to allow for dice to roll through.

The designer stated that this model is scaled to fit a Prusa i3, and scales up well if you want it even bigger. However, they warn that you shouldn’t scale down if you don’t want your dice to get stuck. You’ll also need some internal supports. But whatever you do, don’t enter Death Mountain without the king’s permission!

Koholint Island

Koholint Island is an illusory tropical island where all the events of Link’s Awakening take place. In the game, the island solely exists in the Wind Fish’s dream, but you can 3D print it into reality. The cloud ring is cleverly attached by a single spoke, but it looks just like it’s floating!

Judging by the clock in the video below, it may take up to 27 hours for all six parts to be printed. The designer warns to make sure that your printer is calibrated so that the pieces fit together properly.

The Temple of Time first appeared in Ocarina of Time, and is a recurring location in the Zelda series. This miniature model is a straight one-part print. It may be small, but the detail is impeccable and it took the creator a long time to model it.

The designer recommends using a brim or raft to avoid warping, but otherwise states that this doesn’t need supports. It should be a simple print with beautiful results!

Decorations

One of the biggest reasons why we love Zelda is because of all the detail that Shigeru Miyamoto added to the games. It’s the little details and Easter eggs that help make the games so memorable. This is not a project for the faint of heart! The Zora guitar is also known as the Guitar of Waves, and appears in Majora’s Mask. Link uses the guitar to learn the “New Wave Bossa Nova”, then awakens the Giant Turtle by playing the song to Lulu in the Zora Cape.

There are 19 files to download and print to recreate this masterpiece. The designer printed with supports, 10% infill, and finished it off with acrylic paint. We never thought we’d see an organic model that could look as realistic as this. You won’t be able to play it, but it’s still a real piece of art!

These designs both print in several files and assembly might be a bit tricky, so make sure to check out the step-by-step photos provided by the designer. They’re designed to hold flameless tea lights and look incredible when lit!

This nine-part prop is considered easy to print and assemble. It can also be mounted on the wall, which definitely makes a great piece of decoration.

In Breath of the Wild, the Sheikah Slate is a multipurpose tablet bearing the Crest of the Sheikah. Link uses it to access a map of the kingdom with useful information such as time and temperature.

This real-life version is designed as a case for a Nintendo Switch, remixed from a simpler design by onincognito. So, you can now use the tablet inside and outside the game! However, the designer warns this case is for aesthetic, not protective purposes.

The Hylian Shield is a recurring item in the Zelda series. Though there have been several different versions of the Hylian Shield over the years, this particular version seems to be the most popular one. You may not be able to use this shield to defend yourself, but it can definitely protect your Switch cartridges.

The creator also made a Master Sword cartridge holder, also for the Switch, if you’re more about attack than defence!

The shield prints in two pieces, and is intended to be painted afterwards. The designer recommends a layer height of 0.1 to 0.3 mm, and an infill of between 20 and 30%. Kickass 3D Prints filmed the printing and assembly process, which looks super straightforward.

Ocarina of Time Chess Set

Princess Zelda's Gambit

Remember the blocky little characters from the original Ocarina of Time on N64? You’re looking right at them! All these chess pieces were created based on the appearance of the original game. Each piece is also standing on a base with a representative emblem.

There are six different files to print, so you’ll need eight of the pawn, two each of the rook, knight, and bishop, and one king and queen. Then, do it all again in a contrasting color!

These models print larger than normal chess pieces, so if you’re using a standard board you’ll need to scale them down before printing. Or, you could always use the matching laser-etched board, as seen above!
