Frozen Wonder
The coolest ice Christmas tree ever 3D printed.

Physicists at the University of Amsterdam 3D printed a Christmas Tree out of ice with a micrometer-sized water jet on a modified commercial 3D printer inside a vacuum chamber. Evaporative cooling freezes the water almost instantly. The technique's practical uses range from ice microfluidic devices structures to building ice-based forms in space.

Weekend Poll
We covered a metal cutting add-on for the Ender 3 earlier this week.

The Liquid Blade 3D leverages one of the most popular (and moddable) desktop printers in existence - a smart move, but one that begs the question, who among us still has an Ender 3? Is it your daily driver, or a spare that'd be ideal to convert for new functionality? Let us know.

For Sole Operators
A teaser on LinkedIn shows an upcoming desktop 3D printer from shoe specialists Zellerfeld.

Posted by CEO and co-founder Cornelius Schmitt, we see the UI of this mysterious machine, ready with models from the company's library and Zellerfoam material. They'd be the first to say they're a technology company, even if you think shoes when you hear the name, so this move tracks well.

The message to go with the teaser is about not needing to wait for samples – it's for designers to speed up the validation of their designs. It would be very interesting to be able to personally print a pair at home for personal use instead, though.
