Elegoo has finally stamped a January 26 release date on the Centauri Carbon 2, moving the machine from "coming soon" limbo to a concrete launch window. Here's what to expect from this new multicolor machine.
The printer will drop on January 26, on the company’s official store. Elegoo is marketing the launch printer as the “Centauri Carbon 2 Combo,” with the Canvas multi-material system, at least initially, included as standard.
We’ve known the key specs since Formnext: hardened steel 350°C nozzle, actively controlled chamber, and 45 dB operation. The uptick in performance suggested a printer that’s more “prosumer workhorse” than simply colorful convenience, but Elegoo is pitching the final release as a “family-friendly” appliance. A release sent out today leans heavily on the “Canvas” system’s ease of use and pushes Elegoo’s Nexprint platform for slicing-free printing, attempting to frame the machine as a living room fixture.

Technical details largely align with what we saw on the trade show floor. The active chamber cooling and filament backup systems are present, and the “Canvas” unit remains the key differentiator, utilizing the RFID tag system Elegoo previewed late last year.
The arrival of the Centauri Carbon 2 will likely still sting for owners of the original Centauri Carbon that are holding out for that machine’s multicolor addon. After teasing a multicolor printing system for part of 2025, the company rowed back from it late last year, citing development difficulties. They say they didn’t shelve it completely, seemingly kicking the can down the road to focus on the Centauri Carbon 2.
That aside, from my perspective there’s a different elephant in the room for Elegoo and the Canvas. We know from polling that in 2026, most folks want to see improvements in filament changing that cuts back on the waste. Canvas will be Elegoo’s first generation single-nozzle multicolor tech, launching into a space that’s itching to move on from the wastefulness of single-nozzle systems.
We can only speculate the price at this point, but given the original Centauri Carbon shook things up launching at $300, the Centauri Carbon 2 has a tough act to follow. We have asked for clarification on the price and will update accordingly. Otherwise, you can wait until January 26 to find out, or sign up for updates on the Elegoo website.
