Filament storage, AMS-mounting, print status lighting, cooling and build-plate adhesion are all in the spotlight across Biqu’s latest expansion of its Panda series products.
They are a restless bunch, Biqu. When they’re not releasing shoes and basketballs, they’re paving the way as the most overactive provider of accessories and upgrades for Bambu Lab 3D printers. I’ve joked before that they’re becoming a 3D printing lifestyle brand, but now that they sell actual shelves for your filament, I think it may actually be the truth.
The latest batch of products in the company’s long-running Panda series is a doozy, with massive upgrades to part cooling performance, and, completely out of left field, armour for the printers’ bottom to protect against drops.
We’ll start with the Panda Perch, a dual AMS-holding shelf for your X- and P-series machines. Sitting on top of the printer, this aluminum mega-bracket appears to give ample room for and unhindered access to the glass lid. Hex-shaped tool board mounts on either side give the chance for versatile storage options, too. It costs $89.99 from the Biqu webstore.
Arguably the coolest new Panda product is the Panda Status, a Bambu Lab H2D-like lightbar compatible with the A1, P- and X-series devices. For $22.99, this strip of bright, breathing light indicates what’s happening with the printer, including job progress, idle status and the like. Alternatively, it appears you can just set it to be sound reactive, flashing like crazy as your printer whips into action. Like the Panda Knomi before it, the Status requires configuration using Biqu’s web interface.
The next new thing is a boon for all the 3D printing klutzes in the room who have accidentally toppled machines from their shelves (sheepishly raises hand). The Panda Under Armor PX plate ($74) is a tough aluminum plate that fixes to the bottom of P- and X-series machines, providing impact protection from sharp falls on the corners. Beyond the armor aspect, there’s a preset mounting spot for a Panda Branch and caster wheels you can choose to mount for more lateral mobility for your printer. The name of this one may change in time – I’m no lawyer, but I don’t think they can use the name “Under Armor.”
H2D-heads are in on the fun too, with a H2D-size Pyrogrip build plate joining the fray for $32.99. This plate, Biqu says, offers superior grip when hot, letting you safely print without adhesives for most filaments.
Bambu Lab A1 owners have the chance to chase overhang nirvana with the Panda Breeze, an auxiliary fan for the A1 that mounts to the X-axis gantry and provides a wide channel of extra airflow at the print. Powered by the printer, it provides extra lighting by way of an LED light strip, too. That one’s $61.99.
Joint contender for coolest new Panda product (pun intended) is the Panda Turbo, a massive print cooling upgrade for P- and X-series machines. Featuring a massive brushless DC motor that piggybacks on the rear of the printer’s case, Biqu says the Turbo pipes three times the standard airflow of the printers, resulting in cleaner, tidier overhangs and print finish. It has RGB lighting, of course, but does integrate tidily, with a seemingly unintrusive installation that interfaces with the printer without adding extra load on the stock hardware.
You do need to print some parts to mount it, but the resulting black box blowing the air is attached magnetically, presumably for quick dismounting. It’s worth noting that Biqu details the Turbo’s ability to cycle air from inside the printer, or cooler air from outside, an important distinction that matters between higher temp and lower temp materials. The Panda Turbo is listed on the Biqu site for $99.
