Custom COBOD construction printers just started work on the first of two 20,000-square-meter schools in Qatar.
In the middle-eastern country of Qatar, concrete is about to start flowing through custom-built construction 3D printers to erect the world’s largest (so far) building, a two-story school on a 100-meter by 100-meter plot.
Danish construction 3D printer manufacturer COBOD customized two of its large BODXL machines to measure 50 meters long, 30 meters wide, and 15 meters high, making them the largest construction printers in the world, according to COBOD.

A construction team of architects, civil engineers, material scientists, and printer technicians have spend the past eight months training on the massive 3D printer making more than 100 full-scale test prints at a trial site in Doha, the capital city of Qatar.

Architecturally, the schools are inspired by the natural desert formations of Qatar, with curved, flowing walls resembling sand dunes, says COBOD.
Two same-size schools are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
