Two ongoing competitions on PCBWay are giving designers and 3D printerers the chance to flex their creative muscles in the fields of AI, mech-eng, electronics, and mascot design.
If you’ve got a design project simmering on the back burner but lack the impetus to finish it off, now might be the time to kick things into gear. Manufacturing service provider PCBWay is currently hosting two major design competitions aimed at showcasing the incredible talent within the maker community. Whether your passion is in complex electronics or creative 3D modeling, there’s an opportunity to win cash, cool tech, and, of course, bragging rights.
First is the expansive 8th Project Design Contest, which invites creators to submit their most innovative work across three categories. This contest is a great fit for a wide range of technical skills, welcoming submissions each of: Electronics Project, Mechanical Project, and AIoT Project (Artificial Intelligence of Things). If you’ve developed anything from a clever IoT solution to a unique mechanical gadget, this is your chance to shine.
While no specific judging criteria are given, it’s indicated that complete project documentation helps your chances simply through your project being clear and easy to understand. Likewise, open source projects are encouraged, and weigh in your favor. Whatever you submit has to be work you have the right to submit (in other words, your own work) and PCBWay specifies you retain these rights when you participate.
If you’re on the fence about entering, there’s a participation prize, too. Submit a qualifying entry, and you’ll be credited 600 “points” to your PCBWay account, which can be redeemed for a Raspberry Pi Pico 2.
With a lower barrier to entry through simplicity, there’s also the PCBWay Mascot 3D Printing Design Contest. This competition is all about character and artistry, and gives entrants two ways to enter. It invites you to either remix and redesign PCBWay’s official mascot, Eon, into different poses, outfits, expressions or styles, or a submit a different character of your own creation.
All submissions to either competition become publicly accessible, hosted on PCBWay inside the company’s model repository.
