Keep Ten Spools of Filament Dry with Sunlu’s New Dehumidifying Cabinet for Under $200

Sunlu and Inslogic's new low-energy filament storage solution doesn't use hot air, just room-temperature air circulation and desiccant for low-moisture long-term storage.

The new FilaDC i10 isn’t a conventional filament dryer, like Sunlu’s own FilaDryer E2. Instead, it’s a dehumidifier cabinet that maintains a low-moisture storage environment for your just-dried filament.

It’s designed to replace those vacuum bags and desiccant-filled storage bins that may seal your filament, but don’t actively control the humidity. This solution may also eliminating the need for frequent re-drying.

Sunlu, which teamed up with Inslogic on this hardware, says the i10 addresses the two main pain points in FDM 3D printing: reliable long-term filament storage and continuous active moisture  control.

The cabinet holds up to ten 1-kg spools and keeps them dry by continuously circulating room-temperature air through a built-in desiccant system. This is a more energy-efficient alternative to traditional hot-air drying cabinets and better for the long-term dry storage of temperature-sensitive materials that can be damaged by continuous heat, according to Sunlu.

The cabinet maintains a relative humidity of 10% – 45%, and once the desiccant is saturated, the unit automatically heats the “desiccant sieves” to expel trapped humidity and restore the dehumidifying functionality without manual intervention. Humidity sensors automatically switch between moisture absorption and moisture expulsion modes.

The i10 is an always-on appliance but Sunlu says it uses about 0.23 kWh of electricity in 24 hours compared to 2.88 kWh needed for a traditional dryer (although you wouldn’t use one for 24 hours straight). It’s also quite, coming in at 35 dB or quieter.

Sunlu says the cabinet is compatible with more than 50 filament types, including PLA, PETG, TPU, and nylon.

A Different Approach to Filament Storage

With the i10, Sunlu is distinguishing between actively heated filament dryers — of which there are many — and a cabinet intended to continuously control storage humidity. Although some humidity-controlled cabinets specifically for filament exist from more industrial manufacturers (like BigRep’s DryCon) at the consumer level, this is pretty new.

The idea is that it can sit on a workshop shelf continuously maintaining dry conditions rather than being switched on only when a spool needs drying.

Availability & Price

Sunlu hasn’t confirmed the price specifically, but from the graphic above on its site, it appears that the retail price is $199,99 but the pre-order sale will offer it for less. Ahead of the pre-order launch on Sept. 15, Sunlu is offering a $1 Early Access Pass through Sept. 14, limited to the first 5,000 reservations. Customers purchasing the pass are promised a $10 discount code that can be applied to an i10 pre-order.
