Since we last reported on it, the E1 has amassed an eye-watering $44 million in pledges on Kickstarter, unlocking multiple stretch goals and accessories along the way. And there are two days left to back it.
If there was ever a doubt that there’s a market for a personal UV printer, the last two months on Kickstarter for the EufyMake E1 have resoundingly cleared things up. At the time of writing, the campaign has astonishingly racked up almost $45 million from over 17,000 backers. The campaign surpasses author Brandon Sanderson’s Secret Project series of novels, which raised some $41 million back in 2023, prompting even Kickstarter itself to comment on the achievement.
There’s precedence for EufyMake’s number, though. The company’s last project, when it was still known as AnkerMake, raised some $8.8 million from a campaign that worked extensively with mainstream tech influencers to reach a huge audience. That was for the AnkerMake M5 3D printer. The E1, however, taps the much larger crafting market.
The E1 is a UV printer, though. It’s basically like your typical home inkjet paper printer, except it’s printing layers of photosensitive ink that can build up into a several millimeter-thick layer. It’s not 3D printing, mind. Rather than working with 3D models, the E1 works exclusively with 2D imagery that can be extrapolated to reliefs and distinct layers.
As is typical of successful Kickstarter campaigns, several stretch goals that enhance backers’ rewards with extra goodies have been met. That, and new accessories and bundles have been revealed throughout.
In addition to the E1 device, there’s now a EufyMake direct-to-film (DTF) laminator, roll-to-film attachment, and flexible white ink, all of which add up to expanded functionality, including up-to-10-meter-long prints, plus printing on flexible surfaces and hot foil stamping techniques. At the campaign’s launch, examples given painted a picture of relief-style artworks, badges and the like. The scope looks much wider now, with larger projects like custom skateboard vinyls, signage, gold foil embossing, and stickers, plus flexible printwork on fabrics.
The EufyMake E1 campaign ends June 28, 1.57 PM (UTC), meaning there are two days left to run. All of the “early bird” rewards are gone, leaving Kickstarter “special offer” bundles starting at $1,899 that, even still, give a 24% discount on the eventual retail price.
