Whether you have some formlabs resin 3D printers in your shop or not, you’ll want to stop by Formlabs’ booth at Formnext next week to see, first-hand, the new larger curing machine and the company’s two new resins.

The Form Cure L V2 (~$4,500), a new and improved large-format curing unit compatible with all parts printed on large format SLA printers, like the Form 4L, post-cures most parts in under 60 seconds, offering a faster, more compact, and streamlined post-processing experience, the company says.  Form Cure L V2 use powerful LEDs with 5x more UV power than V1 of the Form Cure L, convective heating that heats up faster, and validated presets to cure to optimal mechanical properties. There’s also a 26% reduction in overall footprint from the previous generation while curing up to 19% larger parts.

In addition to curing, Formlabs just-launched engineering-grade resins meet the strength of HDPE and ABS for end-use production.

“These tough, resilient materials stand up to harsh environments, impact, and repeated wear, all while delivering a dark, matte surface finish with crisp details, particularly when printed on Form 4 Series 3D printers,” the company says.

The new Tough 1000 ($149/l) is a toughest and most ductile material, while the new and improved Tough 2000($149/l) resin is Formlabs’ strongest and stiffest, rivaling ABS. These two new materials join the Tough 1500 Resin launched in March. Available in cartridges for Formlabs machines and a bottle for non-Formlabs printers.

“With the new Tough Resin Family, SLA printing now delivers the strength and durability of the world’s most trusted thermoplastics,” says Formlabs co-founder and CEO Max Lobovsky.

If you need a part that bends before breaking, you choose a lower modulus resin (Tough 1000). If you need a rigid, load-bearing part, you choose a higher modulus resin (Tough 2000).
