Want to 3D print something for the pet in your life? What better than to add some fun to treat time? They won't complain!
This Thing of the Week has been approved by Lotta, All3DP’s most important team member. But the idea wasn’t inspired by her…
When an editor thought that his cat would enjoy this D20 Cat Treat Toy (shoutout to Monty!), we couldn’t not print it. And once we had it, because Lotta was already scavenging for treats in our hallways, we figured we’d see if it worked. And oh, how it did. The toughest part? Limiting the amount of treats we were giving her. After all, she was so cute and happy with her accomplishments, we didn’t want to stop…
And honestly, we took many more photos, but there’s a style to this article series that we want to keep (and yours truly is trying really hard not to have a Jessica Day meltdown).
So let’s move on to what you’re here for…
As noted by a few of the comments, the original size might be a bit too small, so we took a risk and scaled it up to 120%. We sliced in Bambu Studio for the P1P, choosing the 0.16mm High Quality profile with all its default settings. The filament? Bambu Lab’s PLA Basic Gradient – Mint Lime – because it was already set up in the 3D printer and we were anxious to print and play with Lotta. Can you blame us?
As mentioned, we paid attention to other makers’ comments and avoided supports. There were a few loose strands in the model, which were promptly removed by tweezers and no more time was wasted. Treats were added to the model and the die was rolled. The results? A happy pup who’s found a new reason to come into the office. Works for her, works for us.
Maker hroncok has shared eight models on Thingiverse, with the last one published in 2017. While we don’t know if he’s working on designs or will be sharing more anytime soon, his website lets us see what he’s been up to.
