Gridfinity Boxes

Gridfinity is one of the most famous 3D printable systems for organization. In a nutshell, it’s a base grid where you can place the bins you print in any desired length and height. The base of the bins snaps in place with the grid and you can also move them around as you need, making it a super-efficient system for tidying your workshop.

You can choose this concept to organize your drawers as well. There are many different models out there, and we’ve selected a great collection of Gridfinity bins that should offer plenty of options to tidy your drawers. This collection of models includes over 150 boxes of different dimensions, ranging from 1×1 (42 x 42 mm) up to 6×6 (252 x 252 mm) – you should have no problem finding one that fits your needs.

You can also choose between a thinner version with 0.8-mm walls or a sturdier one featuring 1.2-mm walls. The designer suggests decreasing the first layer speed to 50% and avoiding using supports. And if you own a Bambu Lab machine, it’s even easier because there are many premade slicing profiles that you can use.

Interlocking Sorting Cups

The perfect companion for board games lovers

If you’re a maker and you like fiddling your fingers with electronics or mechanical assemblies, you probably love sorting cups. They are extremely useful to divide the different hardware pieces so they don’t mix, so why not use them to organize your drawers?

This model, in particular, features interlocking sorting cups, making it easy to take out the required tools or hardware for a project when you need it. In fact, the different cups interlock together thanks to the snaps on the sides. You can decide to print the square version or the triangular one, or even take a peek at the hexagonal version. Also, you can choose if you need the snap-on lids to make everything tidier.

You can print these models with PLA, but make sure to follow the designer’s instructions: Before printing the cups, print the clearance test to find out what tolerance works best with your machine. Then, print two or three cups to test the fit. Once you’re on board, you can send as many as you need to your 3D printer.

Modular Organizer

Finally, a place for spices!

This system was specifically designed to organize drawers: It’s fully parametric and modular. In fact, the creator has uploaded the OpenSCAD file so that everyone can further customize the model to their needs. You can personalize it directly on Thingiverse using its Customizer.

It’s a simple yet effective system, made up of some dividers and borders, joined via connectors. The borders are thinner, so make sure to separate the pieces properly to avoid breaking parts during assembly. Additionally, if you encounter problems with the tolerances, the creator suggested modifying the gap in the OpenSCAD parameters to make the parts fit properly.

Organizing tools can be a challenge, but with this toolbox drawer organizer, you’ll always be able to find your gadget tidily stored in your drawer. On the model page, you can find the models for many different maker tools, including organizers for collets and drill chucks, as well as boxes for various utensils such as drill bits, screws, and other equipment.

The designer has also uploaded the STEP and F3D files for most of the parts, so you can easily modify the models if you need to do so.

You don’t need supports to print these organizers, but an issue you might encounter is warping because the parts are quite long. The designer suggested using PETG for this reason. Make sure to check out our guide on dealing with warping if you have difficulties with it!

Kitchen Drawer Organizer

Needs a little elbow grease

This model joins 3D printing with a bit of woodworking. The system is simple: You print the connectors and use these parts to join the wooden strips that will act as dividers. This is a great system to save some 3D printing time and use a material that’s more durable than plastic.

It was designed for kitchen drawers, but you can also use it for drawers around the house since it’s a super convenient system. It can be completely customized because you can cut the wooden strips to the desired length and create bigger or smaller compartments.

To print these pieces, the designer suggested using a 0.2-mm layer height, as well as 40% infill. Since the connectors are small, you might encounter adhesion issues. If that’s the case, use a brim or raft to keep the parts adhering to the plate.

Baskets

Another great system to organize your drawers is baskets. This model offers a wide range of baskets with different dimensions, as shown in the table on the model page. The designer has also included the FreeCAD file to allow users to modify the model if needed. Together with the baskets, the lids have been uploaded, making the final organization even tidier.

Every part can be printed without supports at a 0.2-mm layer height. If you decide to print the lids, the creator suggests paying attention to their orientation: They should be printed with the top on the print bed. They also added that default infill settings should be enough, so a 15-20% density should do the trick.

If you need a bigger bin, you can take a look at the remix of the model that features a couple of designs with a 120-mm-wide bin and a 180-mm-wide bin. Alternatively, you can follow the suggestion of a maker who has shared their print by scaling the models to meet their requirements.
