How the Turntables
by Matthew Mensley Oct 26, 2026
Creality modders and tinkerers take note.

Channeling the hackability of the original Ender 3, Creality has started to release STEP files and, eventually, code for its SparkX i7. The great irony? It's using Prusa's tactically developed, anti-clone Open Community License – a license developed to fence Prusa's work off from the companies it complains exploited it – to do it. You can adapt, change, and use the files all you want – just don't try to sell what you build. Creality is, of course, within its rights to use the license. It doing so gives weight to the source-available hardware framework Prusa is championing.
