Dagoma, the French manufacturer of the Disco and Magis 3D printers and proponent of slick social projects, is turning its attention to the ecological footprint of disposable plastic playthings. With the release of Toy Rescue, Dagoma offers the chance to download and print your own spares for a wide number of iconic toys.

Reasoning in a press release that there is a veritable mountain of broken toys disposed of around the world each year, Toy Rescue aims to help stem the flow of almost-fine toys in need of a little TLC ending up in the garbage.

A team of designers at Dagoma 3D scanned its way through a list of the most commonly lost or broken parts of popular toys from the last 40 years, resulting in a model repository that looks like it was tailor-made for ’80s and ’90s kids – think Barbie, He-Man, Power Rangers, GI Joe, Furby, and many more.

Open to part submissions from the community, Toy Rescue also takes requests. Check out the video (in French) of it in action below.
