The new polymer formulations target two familiar material headaches: moisture-sensitive PETG and brittle silk PLA.
Sunlu just expanded its filament lineup with PETG 2.0 and Silk PLA+ 2.0; two materials, they say, address the two signature pain points of these two materials. The PETG 2.0 is formulated for lower moisture absorption to remedy stringing while the Silk PLA+ 2.0 promises better resistance to breakage.
We haven’t gotten our hands on these yet in the All3DP lab, but we’re excited to see these mechanical issues potentially addressed in a very affordable filament. They’re currently on sale for $12.99/kg and $14.99/kg respectively.

“If only there were a PETG that I didn’t have to dry every time and also didn’t string,” said everyone who’s ever printed with PETG. Sunlu PETG 2.0’s headline feature is lower moisture absorption, which Sunlu says reduces stringing and makes printing cleaner and more reliable.
The company also says the materials has improved interlayer adhesion, greater load-bearing capability, enhanced printing stability, and resistance to cracking, moisture, daily wear, and weather exposure.
Although Sunlu usually posts technical data sheets of each of its filaments online, there are none available yet for these materials. The only figure released is an impact-strength of 5.196 kJ/m², but not specified if it’s Izod Impact Strength of notched or un-notched, so it’s hard to compare to other materials.
The finish is described as a refined matte rather than the glossier appearance often associated with PETG. It’s not clear whether, like most PETG materials, higher print temperatures product a glossier affect while lower temperatures produce a matte effect

The moisture claim is backed, for now, by Sunlu’s own controlled testing. PETG 2.0 continued to produce clean tower-tip prints after being left unsealed in open air for five days. In a separate condition after 12 hours of drying at 65 °C, Sunlu measured the filament’s moisture content at 0.13% and reported a clean tower with no visible stringing.
For printing, Sunlu specifies 230-240 °C at 50–100 mm/s, or slightly hotter for faster, 240–270 °C at 100–200 mm/s. A cold build plate requires adhesive, according to Sunlu, while a heated bed at 70–80 °C does not. Each spool contains 1 kg of filament, weighs 1.3 kg gross, and is listed at approximately 320 m in length.
PETG 2.0 is offered in 20 listed colors and currently on sale on the U.S. for $12.99/kg, reduced from $18.99.

Silk PLA+ 2.0 goes after a different weakness. Silk filaments are primarily chosen for appearance, but brittleness is a common drawback. Sunlu’s new formulation is designed to retain a high-gloss, mirror-like surface while improving toughness. The company suggests it for decorative models, display pieces, cosplay props, jewelry and jewelry displays, embossed artwork, ornaments, home décor, figurines, and other appearance-focused prints.
Sunlu’s product page describes a silk-smooth surface requiring no post-processing, richer colors, smoother surfaces, and printing behavior similar to standard PLA+. It claims the filament is suitable for beginners as well as display work and describes the new formulation as having “50% stronger layer bonding”, intended to improve toughness and reduce cracking and breakage while retaining some flexibility. Sunlu also claims 100% bubble-free extrusion under its stated product specification.

On appearance, the claim is 60% greater surface luminosity with more uniform light reflection. Printed at 85 °C, Sunlu measured gloss at 55.8 GU for Silk 2.0 versus 33.4 GU for what it calls conventional silk filament, an increase of approximately 67.1%.
There’s no TDS yet, but Sunlu says the notched impact strength of 6 kJ/m² is nearly twice that of its regular PLA Silk+ and helps reduce chipping and breakage.
Printing guidance is comparatively straightforward: 1.75 ± 0.02 mm filament, 210-230 °C nozzle temperature, and a stated speed range of 50-200 mm/s. Sunlu recommends adhesive on an unheated bed but says it is unnecessary with a bed heated to 50-60 °C. A 1-kg spool is listed at about 330 m of filament and 1.3 kg gross weight. Sunlu says the diameter tolerance is intended to support consistent feeding and extrusion and lists compatibility with most FDM printers, specifically naming Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, and Anycubic machines.
