Prusa Launches INDX with 14 Different SKUs: Each One Explained
Prusa's INDX toolhead spent nine months punted as a DIY-only upgrade kit. Now it also ships as a complete, pre-assembled printer.
When we covered the reveal in November, we came away with the impression that the Prusa’s INDX was a DIY upgrade kit for existing Core One+ owners that would require hours of hands-on assembly. Then, without much hype, that changed.
Prusa now sells a fully assembled, pre-calibrated Core One+ (Gen 2) with INDX built in, which is the opposite of what buyers had been told to expect over the previous nine months.
When our own Core One+ INDX arrived, it came fully assembled, likely a relief for anyone drawn to the toolchanger but put off by that six-hour installation. Prusa has since extended the same treatment to the Core One L+, which now also ships fully assembled. For those who already own the printer, the assembly kit is still available for the Core One+ or Core One L+, with a choice of four or eight toolheads.
With the release of INDX, Prusa’s store now has multiple SKUs to choose from. Buyers need to decide whether they want INDX, whether they want four or eight toolheads, and, in the case of the CORE One+ (Gen 2), whether they want the printer assembled or as a kit. Making Sense of the INDX: Complete Printers
CORE One+ (Gen 2) is the only INDX printer sold both ways: assembled or as a kit. CORE One L+ ships assembled only; Prusa doesn’t offer a kit for it at any tool count.

As the table shows, conversion-kit pricing varies by printer generation, with the kits for non-plus printers (Core One / Core One L) slightly more expensive. Prusa’s online store doesn’t list any additional components for the Gen 1 conversion kits but confirmed with us that these conversion kits include the INDX, plus the updated GT1.5 belts, pulleys, and bed thermal expansion joints to bring the printer up to the Gen 2 standard.
