Phrozen has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its first FDM 3D printer: the Arco.

The machine boasts a 300 x 300 x 300 mm build volume and can reach print speeds of 600 mm/s with 30,000 mm/s² acceleration, according to Phrozen.

It’s also compatible with two optional add-ons. The first is the Chroma Kit, a multi-material system that enables printing with up to four filaments (and will offer up to 16 colors “in the future”) and has filament detection, auto refill, and dual material printing. The second is the PentaShield, a set of metal-edged acrylic panels (and one back metal panel) that act as a DIY enclosure for heat and noise insulation.

The Arco leverages a “patented cooling system”, as well as an “ultra-close” design between the extrusion gears and the hot end. Together, Phrozen says, they enable fast printing with materials like TPU.

Stability-wise, the printer’s “low-gravity” base and four reinforced aluminum stands aim to reduce wobbling and boost print quality. Users can slice models on Phrozen’s self-developed software, Pixup FDM Slicer, on which they can also monitor their prints via Wi-Fi.

Other Arco features include 25-point auto-leveling, a heated bed, a built-in camera, and a PEI build plate. Users control the Klipper-based Arco via a five-inch touchscreen.

Packages start at $649 for an Arco, $869 for an Arco and Chroma Kit, and $1,048 for the Arco, Chroma Kit, and PentaShield. Additionally, all orders placed in the first 24 hours will receive 50% off shipping. For more information, including full specs, check out the Arco’s Kickstarter page.
