Focused on efficiency and high torque, the Apus 2 is now available – and on display at this year's Formnext.

Phaetus has released the Apus 2 extruder, the follow-up to its previous Apus device.

The Apus 2 is marketed as an efficiency-focused device capable of “high-speed and high-torque extrusion”. To do so it leverages a 5:8:1 gear ratio, compared to the Apus’ 6:3:1. Typically, higher torque correlates with lower speeds, but Phaetus touts the Apus 2 as “renewed with VigorRacing”, a slogan the company told All3DP “means it can achieve high-torque extrusion (70N+) with a small and lightweight design.”

The Apus 2 uses an RNC II coating that has a hardness of HV3300, which works to boost wear-resistance and overall durability. There’s also an integrated material break sensor, which can help users better monitor their prints, thus further backing up the extruder’s efficiency-forward messaging.

For more details, check out the Apus 2’s product page on the Phaetus website, or give them a visit at Formnext in hall 12.1, booth F10. There, you can see Apus 2 – as well as Phaetus’ recent hot side offerings – the Bambu Lab Conch hotend, EndCoat, and Silicon Carbide nozzle – in person.
