Maxon has announced an expansive update of its Maxon One subscription bundle, which includes two new “revolutionary workflow tools” for 3D modeling software ZBrush, plus new features for Forger and several other VFX and digital content creation-related programs.

For ZBrush, the just-added Proxy Pose feature enables users to quickly and easily modify the topology of models by instantly reducing polygon density before converting back to high-density mesh.

Meanwhile, with the new Drop 3D feature, users can increase local mesh density on models, allowing them to more easily preserve high-resolution details in areas where they are necessary. The feature, Maxon says, “combines the technology of Sculptris Pro with the 2.5D functionality of the ZBrush canvas” – effectively “fusing” elements of 2D and 3D design.

ZRemesher, a popular ZBrush tool, has also been incorporated into the mobile 3D sculpting app, Forger. Because of this, Forger users can now have greater versatility in mesh retopology using guides and the ability to paint density maps.

Also included in the Maxon One update are additions to Cinema 4D, Red Giant, Redshift, Capsules, and Cineware. New features and support run the gamut here, with Cinema 4D now offering an improved Commander – essentially the software’s control board – and a new “thicken” generator for modeling well-suited to 3D printing. There are also new tools for Red Giant’s toolset, including a “symbol mapper” feature for Universe, anamorphic lens support for VFX, strength sliders for Magic Bullet, and performance optimizations for faster rendering in Trapcode.

As part of Redshift’s update, new sky and sun models help in the creation of realistic sunset simulations. New materials for Capsules have also been added, as well as an update “focused on Unreal 5.0 and 5.1 integration” for Cineware.

In all, there are too many new features, tools, performance upgrades, and bug fixes to list here. It’s an enormous update and surely an exciting one for Maxon One subscribers. For all the details, you can read Maxon’s statement on the update.
