Reddit users constantly surprise us with their innovative 3D print designs. Tom Ouwerkerk is a student designer who has created a joystick fidget which he describes as “useless” but a lot of fun.

The STL files are available on Prusa’s Printables and Maker Bot’s Thingiverse. Tom shared a video showing the process of design to execution on Reddit.

Four months ago, Tom also drew the designs and then printed a pocket catapult.

He said: “While experimenting more with spirals and their use case, I had the great idea to make a small pocket-sized catapult. It works really well and I just had to show you guys. If you want to shoot your filament bits through your room. Here is the Printables or Thingiverse link for the STL.”

One user responded in the comments saying, “I want you to know, you have indirectly created unspeakable mayhem in my office.”

The designs speak to the playful nature of 3D printing, which lies at the heart of hobbyist enthusiasm for the medium.
