You can use the official downloadable models of Insta360's new camera to help you design 3D printable accessories, entering them into a design competition to win an assortment of hardware prizes, including cameras and 3D printers.
Camera hardware maker Insta360 has a new official presence on Makerworld, kicking things off with the release of STL and 3MF files for its new Luna Ultra gimballed camera system.
Its appearance is part of a larger collaboration with Bambu Lab and Makerworld, which is hosting one part of a dual-track competition to celebrate the camera’s launch. The bit we’re interested in is Track A – a design competition. Running from July 10 through to August 9, 2026, on Makerworld, you can upload your custom-designed accessories for the camera (using the shared Luna Ultra models for size and fit reference).
The competition invites models centered on two focus areas: practical add-ons and creative mods – basically, parts that add features or parts that change the look and character of the camera. It already looks a little anthropomorphic with two lenses oriented like eyes, so expect to see plenty of rabbit ears and similar shapes that turn it into a character.
My freebie idea for anyone fixing to take part – design a creative mod for the gimballed head that looks like a Kodama from Studio Ghibli classic Princess Mononoke. They twist and turn their heads, just like the gimbal does.
Track B for the competition is largely similar in theme, with posts that show off concepts, ideas, prototypes, or even the finished prints, accepted on popular social media platforms by using the hashtags “#PrintForLuna,” “#BambuLab,” or “#Insta360LunaUltra.”
Forty prize winners will be announced across the course of the campaign, with the announcement of the final winners following on August 20, 2026. You can check out the full rules and terms over on the Insta360 blog, and download the models from Makerworld.
