Feature-Rich AnkerMake Studio Update Pulls From Leading Slicers
With tools and functionalities like variable layer height and improved calibration settings, AnkerMake Studio 1.5.22 is a great example of simultaneous development at work.
AnkerMake has released AnkerMake Studio 1.5.22, which integrates features from PrusaSlicer and other popular Slic3r-based software Bambu Studio, and Orca Slicer.
From Bambu Studio, for instance, comes an assembly view, which shows how each of a model’s components fits together via an explosion view. Other features from Bambu Studio include variable layer height, and advanced process parameters that let users fine-tune settings like line width, layer height, and seam position.
New features from PrusaSlicer include a tool for measuring parts, a “Cut” tool for slicing at specific heights, and two functionalities that allow adding text and embossing SVGs to models.
Adoptions from OrcaSlicer, meanwhile, include a handful of parameters like role-based wipe speed, ironing patterns, and a “calibration toolbox” with settings for temperature, flow rate, pressure advance, and the like, which together work to make printing calibration models easier – and thus result in higher quality final prints.
AnkerMake has introduced several self-developed features to its software, as well, including a “Detect Overhang Walls” function that adjusts print speed based on overhang percentage, and a function that lets users set the speed of skirts in an effort to improve model adhesion.
It’s not altogether uncommon for Slic3r-based software like AnkerMake Studio (which is a branch of PrusaSlicer, specifically) to bring in features from software with a shared foundation. However, to see this many mainstream contributors in one update is a striking example of how simultaneous development can provide users with a product capable of exponential and rapid improvement.
