Designed to promote gender diversity, inclusion, and innovation within the 3D printing sphere, “Elegoo with Her” will provide 30 female candidates with access to 3D printers, workshops, and more.

Elegoo has launched “Elegoo with Her,” a program that aims to bring more women into the world of 3D printing.

The program, a partnership with Chitubox and Kexcelled, will select 30 women to participate. They will each be given access to 3D printers, materials, and software, as well as online workshops that help them develop their technical skills by focusing on topics such as the basics of 3D printing and building a 3D printing-related business.

Elegoo has also named four mentors for the program – Anouk Wipprecht, Batoul al-Rashdan, Brigitte Kock, and Linette Manuel – who will seemingly advise participants as they work on their projects. “Elegoo with Her” will culminate in a showcase – in which the work of the program’s participants will presumably be featured – scheduled for April 23, 2025.

At a glance, “Elegoo with Her” looks to be predominantly developed around art- and fashion-related uses of 3D printing. “What industry are you interested in?” asks the application, offering fashion design, jewelry design, and home decoration as choices, but nothing overtly STEM-related.

Whether there will be any pushback in that regard remains to be seen, although we did notice a bit of discontent surrounding the program’s announcement on Reddit, with some users unhappy with the term “females” rather than “women” to describe “Elegoo with Her’s” target audience. That said, it’s difficult – if not outright unwise – to immediately label a program designed with inclusivity and diversity at its heart as anything other than well-intentioned.
