A crowdfunding project on Bambu Lab’s MakerWorld could make custom 3D printed articulated pets accessible to makers of all skill levels. Cute Flexi Maker: Custom Flexi Generator is an app created by design firm Valeria Momo & Mattia and “launching soon”.

Small 3D printed flexi animal collectables may by shaping up to be the next toy craze with companies like U.S.-based ZB Designs selling millions of its Wigglitz nationwide via retailers like Target and Amazon. One Indian copycat, Wol3D, is positioning “Vinglits” as India’s first 3D printed flexible toy brand, and there are sure to be more to come.

Cute Flexi Maker is a web-based app designed to let users build and customize “cute, fully articulated flexi pets” that can be 3D printed without requiring any CAD or sculpting skills. Users will reportedly be able to create models such as toys, fidgets, keychains, or magnets using an intuitive visual workflow, then export print-ready 3MF files optimized for multicolor printing and fully optimized for Bambu Studio (AMS ready). The animals can also be customized with text and require no supports.

Bambu Lab launched its MakerWorld crowdfunding last August aimed at helping creators turn printing projects into reality with a little financial help from fellow makers. This new initiative enables the 3D printing community to support projects with monetary pledges. To back a maker, you need to upload your credit card information, and then you’ll be charged the pledged amount (starting about $10) if the project reaches its funding goal. Be aware, though, that just like with Kickstarter, your contribution is considered support for a creator’s effort to bring a new idea to life, rather than a purchase of a finished product. So if the project doesn’t ultimately deliver, there are no refunds.

Cute Flexi Maker is already fully funded and has attracted more than 1,500 followers ahead of its official launch (which is TBD), indicating strong community interest.

Valeria Momo & Mattia have a presence on a wide range of platforms including Printable, Cults3D, MyMiniFactory, and Patreon, where its 3MF and STL files for Cute Flexi Pets are available for free and some for a fee.

The project description emphasizes that Cute Flexi Maker hops to expand its features, including adding new animals and accessories, advanced personalization options, and further flexibility for creators and sellers. There’s an indication from the company that licenses to sell custom Cute Flexi Maker prints make be available.

Cute Flexi Maker’s designers have not yet announced a firm release date, though pre-launch messaging suggests an official launch will be announced soon and that following the project on MakerWorld is the current way to stay updated.
