The Fidget Spinner craze is so hot right now. These are the 40 best fidget spinner / hand spinner toys to buy or DIY.

Need it now? Take a gander at Fidget Spinners on Amazon

The world has a new obsession, and it has the potential to be bigger than the yo-yo, the hula-hoop, and the Frisbee combined. Yep, you’ve guessed it, we’re talking about the fidget spinner.

How does it work? You spin one round and round in your hands, holding it by either the center or the spoke. It’s simple to use, and the perfect diversion for overactive fingers and minds.

The heart of the fidget spinner is a skateboard ball bearing. You need to procure one or more and insert it into the center of the spinner before it can function properly. The better quality the bearings, the longer and smoother the spin times.

This is a list of the best fidget spinner designs we could find, and they’re all verified to work as promised. The trick is to experiment and find the right design that works for you; every person has a different preference (and different sized hands).

Most of them you can download and 3D print (and don’t forget to tip the designer). Others you can buy ready-made from vendors on Amazon.

Don’t have access to a 3D printer? Use ALL3DP’s Best Price 3D Printing Service and have them professionally 3D printed.

Fidget Spinner Tricks & Tips: Which Bearings are Best?

The single most important component in any hand spinner is the 608 skateboard ball bearing at its heart. And the quality of these bearings can vary tremendously, ranging from a turgid grind that lasts a few seconds to a silky glide that lasts forever. Our advice is to source ceramic or hybrid ceramic bearings if you can. They’re pricier than standard stainless steel bearings, but the difference they make to spin times and smoothness is incredible. Failing that, try to find bearings with an ABEC rating of 11 or higher.

Fabricating without the counterweights means spins won’t last as long, but the need to fidget is still satisfied. The version pictured is printed at 200 microns with 100% infill, with glow-in-the-dark filament, and it looks the business.

Fidget Spinner Tricks & Tips: How to Increase Spin Times

So you’ve got yourself a spinner and you’d like to prolong the spin times? Well, there’s a simple trick for that — you’ve got to clean it. The bearings are covered in grease to stop them from overheating with friction. That’s important if you’re using them in a skateboard, but not so much for spinning in your hand. Household items like toothpaste or lighter fluid should do the trick. What the video above for the full skinny.

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #17: Holisouse Tri-Spinner Best Fidget Spinner Toys

The Holisouse Tri-Spinner is injection molded from ABS plastic, which makes it strong and durable. It also features a high performance ZrO2 hybrid ceramic bearing in the center, which allows for spins lasting up to to 3 minutes long. The 3 additional bearings in the outer spokes are slightly heavier to provide additional inertia. All four bearings are removable and replaceable.

Fidget Spinner Tricks & Tips: Only One Bearing Necessary

Fidget Spinner Tricks and Tips

Here’s the funny thing about the hand spinner craze. You only need a single bearing to make them work. Designs that feature additional ball bearings on the outer spokes are pretty much a waste of time (which you could put to better use in a skateboard, perhaps). Their only purpose is to provide weight, or centrifrugal mass, to prolong the spins. The same effect could be achieved by substituting the surplus bearings with hex bolts or coins.

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #22: Fidget Hand Spinner fidget spinner

This hand spinner is still a work in progress, and the maker has not finalized their design. But the big draw here is the addition of planetary gears to the standard fidget spinner. In theory, a spin from the center will also cause the cogs on the outer spokes to rotate also. Cool!

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #23: Ball Bearing Fidget Spinner Toy fidget spinner toy

As far as we can make out, this is the very first 3D printed fidget spinner to have surfaced on the magical electronic interwebs. It appeared online at the tail-end of September 2016, and we can’t find any designs shared before that point. Does that mean this is the original source of the craze? It’s a big mmmmmmaybe.

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #24: Mini Ninja Star best fidget spinners

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #25: Fidget Hand Quintuple Spinner fidget spinner toys

This is a clever variation on the hand spinner design which uses only one 608 skateboard bearing at the center. What makes it clever? Because the centrifugal weight for prolonged spins are provided by M14 hex nuts, the rationale being that the outer bearings on the spokes are not strictly necessary. This is also a good opportunity to test out the method of adding metal screw threads to a 3D printed part using a soldering iron.

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #26: Hand Spinner best fidget spinner

This hand spinner features a groove on the outer perimeter. So while it make look like a fidget sandwich, it’s actually a tactile design element. It’s also got an inner lip for the bearings on one side, so with a bit of tinkering of the design files it can accommodate alternative weights like coins on the outer spokes.

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #27: Pennywise Hand Spinner fidget spinner toys

Again, there are some schools of thought that adding skateboard bearings to the outer spokes is a waste of time and money. The one bearing in the center is perfectly adequate; all that’s needed for the arms of the spinner are counterweights. This design uses a stack of 15 pennies for that exact purpose.  Whether the coins stay snug and secure during a frenzied bout of twiddling is for you to find out…

Fidget Spinner Tricks & Tips: Dished Hand Spinner Caps

Some hand spinner designs come with a cap, and some don’t. The benefit of having one is that you can spin for faster and longer, without your fingers touching the bearings and adding frictional drag. Also, no grease on your hands. This is a dished cap design that fits all standard bearings.

Best Fidget Spinner Toys #32: Glaive Spinner from Krull fidget spinner toys

Diving deep into B-movie obscurity, we have this hand spinner inspired by the fantasy film Krull. The Glaive isn’t encrusted with gold and jewels like the original. Nor does it have sharpened blades to slay hordes of alien invaders. But what it does have is embedded magnets to activate the (blunt) pointy bits when it spins. Also, you don’t have to dip your arm into a lake of lava to retrieve it.
