Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 8 dummy unit, 3D printed from design specs, suggest dual cameras and embedded fingerprint sensor for new phablet.

Don’t Miss: Preview the New iPad with a 3D Printed Dummy

After the recent launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8, speculation now turns to the final design of it’s bigger sibling, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Expectations are higher than usual for a phablet; it’s predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, had to be yanked from retail after reports the device would inexplicably burst into flames.

Leaks and rumors about the Note 8 are materializing from all corners of the electronic magical interwebs. Over the weekend, video of what appears to be a 3D printed Samsung Galaxy Note 8 dummy unit show the complete front and back design.

The video was made by the Concept Creator YouTube channel. The 3D print was made using plans for an actual Samsung Galaxy Note 8, seen by a third-party accessories manufacturer.

The resulting device appears incredibly slim, and indicates that the final version will boast dual cameras, three speakers, and a re-positioned fingerprint sensor. See the video in full below:

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to have Dual Rear Cameras?

Based on this 3D printed dummy unit, Samsung is introducing dual rear-facing cameras. This is a first for the Galaxy range. Additionally, on the bottom there is a slot for the ”S Pen” stylus, and a (surprise!) 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to this model, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would feature not just one speaker, but three. This would be a big departure for the company, which traditionally only features one speaker on all their smartphones.

Another interesting tidbit is the apparent lack of a physical fingerprint reader. Again, all this speculation relies on a concept sketch which is the result of dubious means. But if true, Samsung will be opting for an embedded fingerprint reader on the Note 8.

You may have noticed the texture on the model. This comes from the 3D printing process, which has left a pattern of diagonal lines in the surface of the object. One thing we can be sure of; we won’t be seeing those on the final version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 when it hits stores.
