PPS has high chemical resistance and thermal stability, is flame retardant, and insulates from electricity – although it can be tricky to print with.
Generative Machine is a startup (so startup their website is still under construction) with an open-source desktop 5-axis FDM 3D printer in beta that was designed entirely using Autodesk’s Generative Design suite in Fusion. The software rapidly generates a range of design alternatives based on parameters designers suggest, such as material, manufacturing method, and performance requirements.
Fillamentum's NonOilen filament is back in stock. A 100% biodegradable and, importantly, recyclable PLA/PVB blend, it looks natural, is certified is food-safe, temperature resistant, fully reusable, and all-round seems a little more guilt-free than regular filament.
The EU's upcoming right-to-repair laws have wide-reaching implications, especially (and specifically) in 3D printing. There's an opportunity here for print farms to fill a greater need in the market.
LONGER unveils Nano Duo & Nano Ruby: AI-driven, portable laser engravers offering advanced precision, speed, and versatile connectivity.
The integration is compatible with all Bambu Lab machines, and offers features like 3MF file-splitting, and AMS and swapmod support.
In a recent video, YouTuber Mikey Makes Things shows off his impromptu process and very impressive results!
There's really not much to it. Create a mirrored design, lay it face up, spray on some household bleach, and press the fabric. Easy.
Onshape, one of the easiest, browser-based, computer-aided design (CAD) platforms to use, finally launched its computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) suite in beta. Onshape CAM Studio, which was teased as far back as Jan. 2024, is a fully integrated, cloud-native CAM system out now for all pro and enterprise subscribers. It includes 2.5- and 3-axis milling with more advanced milling in an optional advanced module.
According to a Voxelmatters study, metal additive manufacturing is on a steep rise, set to reach $60 billion by 2034. But what's driving this growth, and where are the biggest opportunities? We spoke with Davide Sher, co-founder and senior analyst of the study.
PEI is twice as strong and heat resistant as nylon (PA12). Check our recommendations for the best PEI filament brands.
We covered the entry-level CNC when its Kickstarter launched last month, with a keen interest in its promise to mill PCB far cleaner than the average CNC; specifically boasting a +/- 0.01 mm. This is, of course, in addition to other CNC functions like carving, laser engraving, or pen plotting.
$299 packages of the $500 MSRP enclosed CNC are still available, so be sure to check out our full coverage if you're interested.
YouTube channel Emily the Engineer decided it was high time 3D printers took a step back to 2D printing with ink... just on human flesh. So, naturally, the channel set out to automate tattooing with (seemingly) willing guinea pig and fellow YouTuber Build Daniel Build, tattooing the word "LEG" on his thigh.
You might have seen some coverage of the Ender 7 conversion last week when it garnered lots of attention. We saw it. We love it. We hope you did, too. For the record, I would love one of these tattoos.
Keep things cute and fun this Valentine's Day with this practical gear hearts keychain! The toughest part? Choosing the color combination.
America's national defense manufacturing research wing (the NCDMM) is putting $2.1 million into new research on the sustainability and environmental benefits of additive manufacturing. ASTM International, the standards organization, will developing ways to reuse and recycle 3D printing materials while helping manufacturers implement eco-friendly practices. ASTM leads a team that also includes Boeing, 3D printing service Addman, Amaero Advanced Materials & Manufacturing, and the Additive Manufacturing Green Trade Association.
The project says that it is compatible with MasterSpool refills, plus other popular brands' filament refills, and its 100% metal system fixes common issues with other reusable and plastic spools. Coming soon to Kickstarter, where you can sign up for updates.
Roses are red, violets are blue, with 3D printing, make flowers that last, too! Check out our favorite blooming 3D printed roses.
The latest edition of the peer-reviewed scientific journal, Additive Manufacturing, which covers always-fascinating research includes a novel 3D printing scheme for lunar construction, a new temperature index for build orientation optimization in powder bed fusion, and a detailed study of pre-heating effects in electron beam melting powder bed fusion.
Our recommendations for MJF 3D printing services include regional and global providers that print parts using HP Multi Jet Fusion technology.
"I've made them in aluminum, I've made them in resin .. and even printed in wood with binder jetting," says Olaf Diegel, professor of additive manufacturing at the Univ. of Auckland and founder of ODD Guitars. He's 3D printed more than 100 spectacular electric guitars, so far. Check out how they're made and why in this 3-minute short from our friends over at 3DNatives.
Over on Kickstarter, industrial designer Nicholas Sharp is looking for backers for The Radius Tool. It's a precision-milled aluminum gizmo that features eight "common radii" for you to reference and, more importantly, feel when designing.
