SimplyPrint Releases Open Beta for Bambu Lab Integration
The integration is compatible with all Bambu Lab machines, and offers features like 3MF file-splitting, and AMS and swapmod support.
SimplyPrint, a cloud-based printer management system, has released an open beta for integration with Bambu Lab 3D printers.
The integration is compatible with all Bambu Lab machines, with features that focus on support for multi-material printing on the Bambu Lab AMS and AMS Lite, and 3MF file-splitting that should help users more easily print on multiple beds.
Speaking of, the integration also supports the swapmod – a kit that automatically loads, ejects, and replaces build plate-loaded magazines into Bambu Lab printers.
Functionalities for printer light control, AMS humidity control, and HMS error display are in the works, SimplyPrint says, but not included in the beta.
A Reddit thread about the beta yields tepid reactions at best, with users voicing concern and exasperation regarding SimplyPrint’s cloud-based subscription model, as well as the integration’s apparent lack of immediately useful features. That said, SimplyPrint’s plans offer a free tier that allows users to manage up to two 3D printers. The Bambu Lab integration beta is also free, so there’s seemingly no harm in at least taking it out for a test drive.
While we included SimplyPrint on our list of the best OctoPrint alternatives, it’s important to note that this isn’t an either-or situation. SimplyPrint instead runs alongside OctoPrint (Fabbaloo, in its coverage, calls SimplyPrint a “meta-layer”), leveraging OctoPrint’s features and connecting them to the cloud for easier and deeper printer management.
