SainSmart Quietly Launches a New Belt-Driven Woodworking-Focused CNC Router
The Genmitsu Reno 4040 is very similar to SainSmart’s Genmitsu 4040 Pro router, although it leverages a belt motion system instead of lead screws, and is substantially cheaper.
SainSmart has quietly launched a new woodworking-focused CNC router: the Genmitsu Reno 4040.
First teased at the end of February in social media posts, the Reno 4040 appears very similar to one of SainSmart’s existing routers, the 4040 Pro, except it leverages a belt-driven motion system on the XY axis rather than the Pro’s lead screws. The Reno is also substantially cheaper, with an MSRP of $449 against the Pro’s $599.
The Reno also boasts a 400 x 400 x 76 mm working area and a claimed running accuracy of 0.1 mm. SainSmart says it can hit max speeds of 2,000 mm/min and a max RPM of 9,000.
While a spindle is included in the kit, users can mount their own 42 mm or 52 mm spindle instead. A set of V-cutting is included in the box, too. In typical SainSmart fashion, the Reno is also compatible with the company’s ecosystem of CNC accessories, including a fourth-axis module and an offline controller that features an operating knob and emergency stop button.
