It seems Prusa Research has caught awards season fever, and as such has launched the Printables Awards. It’s set to become a yearly ceremony honoring creators on the Printables platform, with winners taking home cash and 3D printers from a prize pool worth $50K.

There are three main categories: Designer of the Year, a community-decided 3D Model of the Year, and a judge-decided 3D Model of the Year. Winners in each category get $10K, a Printables profile badge, and a trophy. The crowned Designer of the Year will also get to design next year’s trophy.

Additionally, there are specific award categories that focus on more niche areas of model design: functional, art, miniature, multi-material, and print-in-place. Winners there will get a 5-Tool Original Prusa XL 3D printer, a Printables profile badge, and a trophy.

Nominations are now open for the 3D Model of the Year award, and will run until October 7. Voting will open October 13-23. Winners in all categories will be announced in a livestream on October 30.

You can nominate up to three designers and five models through a designer’s profile page, the detail page of a specific 3D model, or on the Printables Awards page. All “free, publicly available” models created from January 1, 2023 are eligible for nomination.

Before you start bestowing your nominations, however, be sure to read Prusa’s blog post introducing the awards for all the details.
