Free shipping usually represents the best discount on Prusa hardware, making this an opportune time to buy.
There’s a summer deal for free shipping and filament with the Prusa XL tool-changing 3D printer with two or five toolheads running now until July 8. This sort of deal usually represents the cheapest you can get your hands on Prusa hardware, and given the size of the Prusa XL, it should amount to decent savings.
For customers in the US, going by online testimony, that amounts to a ballpark $250 saved on shipping, with a free spool of Prusament for each toolhead you order sweetening the pot. That’s a further $26.99 per spool of PLA and $29.69 for the PETG, if you’re buying materials in the current 10% off sale on select Prusament. You’ll probably need the spools anyway, so we’re looking at total savings of around $380 when you buy the $4,099 five-toolhead XL.
XL accessories are included in the offer but ineligible products in an order will cancel out the promotion, so Prusa made a Summer Sale product category to make clear what’s what. There’s a lot there, from the usual build plates and nozzles, to helpful tools like CNC Kitchen’s nozzle cleaning wires or iFixit’s Mako Driver Kit. You’ll need two separate orders if you want to pick up something not included, it seems – like more filament to help fill the XL’s enormous build volume.

The Prusa XL is one of our favorite 3D printers for its unique toolchanger, and currently our top pick for the best large 3D printers. Using independent nozzles represents the least wasteful way to print with multiple filaments, and can lead to some interesting combinations like integrating flexible materials into a part, or using PLA or PETG as support for the other material. Both procedures are made more difficult with a single nozzle.
In our review of the machine, we said the Prusa XL “is a remarkable 3D printer, capable of complex multi-material print jobs that other multi-filament systems are unambiguously incapable of. If you simply must be mixing filament types for your prints, particularly flexibles, then the Prusa XL is it. You get a larger-than-average build volume to work with and relatively speedy prints to boot.”
