With the launch of its new HT-PLA and HT-PLA-GF, Polymaker has made PLA ready for engineering-grade solutions.

Polymaker has launched two new high-performance PLAs that evolve 3D printing’s most popular material from a consumer-grade plastic into a true engineering-grade solution.

The breakthrough has come in temperature resistance. Polymaker’s new HT-PLA filament prints PLA able to withstand temperatures of over 130 °C as soon as it leaves the bed. For reference, standard PLA will often start to see some temperature-driven deformation at just 50 °C.

HT-PLA’s heat resistance has impressively been achieved without sacrificing PLA’s existing strengths, namely high levels of detail, ease of use, low warping, and moisture resistance. Combined with HT-PLA’s high level of heat resistance, this makes it ideal for industrial and functional prototyping.

The initial release of Polymaker HT-PLA includes 10 solid colors and four striking gradients, enabling engineers and designers to combine aesthetics with its advanced performance.

Building upon the foundation of HT-PLA, Polymaker has also launched HT-PLA-GF, a glass fiber–reinforced variant that’s engineered for structural performance. Designed to be annealed, HT-PLA-GF manages to achieve mechanical properties that match or exceed ABS, impressively offering almost twice its stiffness and tensile strength. Post-annealing, it exhibits exceptional dimensional stability, with minimal warping or shrinkage.

The result of these two new variants of Polymaker’s PLA allows engineers to put the material to use in environments and situations where thermal and mechanical durability are vital. HT-PLA-GF is launching with nine bold colors, including a curated range optimized for power tool components and accessories.

That curated range of HT-PLA-GF filaments features nine bold colors unique to the market, with them all optimized to match widely known power tool colors, so users can create custom mounts for their tools that match up with the tool itself.
