Prusa Research's first-ever brand-matched filament is just the beginning with more brand collaborations already in the pipeline.
In a collaboration aimed at PC builders, but with larger implications, Prusa Research just launched two new colors of filament that are officially color-matched to Noctua brand computer fan components.
“This is actually something you don’t see every day: A filament manufacturer teaming up with a well-known brand to make a material of exact color available for everyone and easy to recognize,” Prusa Research said in a blog post. And they’re right. Although some material manufacturers make exact colors on demand, this is a unique co-branded material launch that benefits both company.
Prusa says this is just the beginning and additional brand colors are in the pipeline.

The new products — Prusament PLA Noctua Brown and Prusament PLA Noctua Beige — are the result of a direct partnership between the two companies and represent the first time Prusa has released an officially branded filament colour supported by an external hardware partner.
Noctua’s brown and beige colour scheme has become instantly recognizable among PC builders, known as much for its muted aesthetic as for the company’s reputation for quiet, efficient cooling solutions. According to Prusa, these characteristics have helped Noctua fans and components become a staple in custom builds — including those that embrace minimalist or design-oriented aesthetics rather than the flashy RGB styles of past decades.
Noctua models are available on Printables, and now, with the matching filament, Prusa says it is “providing the final piece of the puzzle for truly seamless custom builds.”
The collaboration was developed to close a gap longstanding in the maker community, where enthusiasts have struggled to find 3D printing filament that truly matches Noctua’s official hues. Both companies worked together to fine-tune the filament colours for consistency, enabling creators to print PC accessories — from keyboard keycaps and mouse shells to fan mounts and entire cases — that visually align with Noctua hardware without guesswork.

Prusa showcased several practical projects taking advantage of the new filaments in its blog, including a Mini ITX PC case by Makerunit, printed on larger Prusa systems like the Prusa XL and CORE One L, and a custom keyboard featuring signature brown and beige keycaps designed by community contributor Filip Křenek. Additionally, Noctua personnel participated by outfitting a Prusa MK4S 3D printer with components matching the new filament colours — underscoring the collaborative spirit of the launch.
According to Noctua’s press announcement, the partnership recognizes “how the maker community utilises our fans and creates parts that enable new types of applications,” and that producing filament in the brand’s colours “feels like a great way of giving back to the community.”

Both Noctua-branded filaments are PLA with a satin surface finish. Prusa noted that the brown and beige options fill gaps in their existing PLA portfolio while providing subtle, warm tones suitable not only for PC accessories but also for architectural models or decorative prints.
However, the company also pointed out limitations: PLA’s heat resistance is around 55 °C, meaning parts printed for use inside systems with high thermal loads (such as near GPUs or hot heatsinks) should be designed with proper airflow and spacing, or alternatively should use more advanced filaments when available. Prusa signalled that additional materials beyond PLA are in development for future colour releases.
For builders requiring materials with higher temperature tolerance or ESD-safe properties today, Prusa suggested Prusament PC Space Grade Black as an option that fits well within a Noctua-themed build while offering enhanced performance characteristics.
Both Prusament PLA Noctua Brown and Noctua Beige are available now at $32.99 per 1 kg spool. Every new Prusament spool now comes with a fully rewritable NFC tag powered by the OpenPrintTag standard.
