Geeetech is set to launch a Kickstarter campaign in September for its new Thunder desktop printer.

Geeetech has made some bold claims about the printer’s speed – seemingly the new trend for making a printer stand out. The company states that Thunder can reach a printing speed of up to 300 mm/s and accelerate to 5000 mm/s² in the X-axis and 4000 mm/s² in the Y-axis.

It could be that the printer lives up to its claims. Geeetech mentions two heat dissipation fans on the hot end as well as two larger auxiliary part cooling fans in its splash page for the printer. It claims the four fans can work simultaneously with the “One-button Strong Cooling Mode” function.

The same page sets out the Thunder’s build volume at 250 x 250 x 260 mm. Geeetech also describes a “durable” dual drive gear extruder and a high-power 70W heating module that the company claims avoid the typical clogging issues experienced in faster printers.

The Geeetech website reveals other specs. One to watch.
