Autodesk has released AutoCAD 2024, with key features focused predominantly on accelerating workflows and boosting collaboration via machine learning capabilities.

With “Activity Insights,” for example, users can take advantage of a shared log of multi-user activity on DWG files, enabling them to bridge information gaps and better keep track of file changes, such as publishing dates and times, throughout a project’s lifecycle.

A smart block replacement feature, meanwhile, offers machine learning-based block replacement suggestions, allowing users to skirt the tedious step of manually searching out and replacing them individually. Similarly, the placement of blocks has been overhauled, with AutoCAD automatically inferring the position of new blocks based on the user’s previous behavior in the same DWG file.

All-around performance enhancements have also been implemented, increasing overall stability, fidelity, and performance – and resulting in a nine-fold increase in layout tab switching compared to AutoCAD 2023.

Finally, subscribers to AutoCAD 2024 will have access to “exclusive” web and mobile features for AutoCAD Web, such as the ability to batch plot to PDFs, directly open links on a mobile device, use AutoLISP to automate web commands, and access DWG files saved on local drives or LAN.

AutoCAD 2024 is available now. For a full write-up of its new features, you can check out Autodesk’s blog post on the topic. Those looking for even more of a deep dive can register for a free April 13 webinar, which will showcase the new features in action.
