To celebrate Ray Lewis' recent induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Under Armour is honoring the former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and two-time Super Bowl champion with a limited edition version of its 3D printed ArchiTech Futurist sneakers.
On Saturday night, Ray Lewis, former University of Miami and Baltimore Ravens linebacker, attended his induction ceremony to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Lewis’ induction into the group of American Football’s most elite athletes is certainly a cause for celebration, and one US-based athletic footwear company Under Armour has released a collection of limited edition apparel dedicated to the rambunctious two-time Super Bowl champion and Defensive Player of the Year.
The new Ray Lewis-themed fashion line includes a special version of the 3D printed Under Armor ArchiTech Futurist sneakers, which are equipped with 3D printed soles.
The original ArchiTech Futurist shoes were launched last year at $300. 3D printing is used create a “dynamic lattice network” for the sneaker’s cushioning, and also features a matching compression lace system. Under Armor uses selective laser sintering technology stationed in its Baltimore-based laboratory to produce the midsole.
The Futurist has an external zippered sleeve and UA SpeedForm upper section, providing exceptional support and fit. It also has a “heel stability solution” that optimizes the footwear for strength training and versatility.
The Ray Lewis edition of the ArchiTech Futurist shoes are currently available in black or white on the Under Armour website. The insole of the sneaker pays homage to the legendary linebacker, including a silhouette of Lewis doing his iconic squirrel dance inside the shoe, his initials and the phrase “Few Are Chosen”.
If you can’t manage to tackle the $300 price tag, you can also celebrate the Hall of Fame inductee by purchasing another item from the Ray Lewis collection. One of the cheapest items available is a $25 shirt, while other options include special edition cleats and sweatshirts.
As for the actual Hall of Fame ceremony itself, Lewis unsurprisingly gave the most energized and controversial acceptance speech of the evening. He gave a fiery 33-minute address that urged Americans to come together to end school violence and sex trafficking, stating “How can we come together? The answer is simple. The answer is love.” You can check out his full speech in the video below.
Eight other all-time NFL greats also received their induction into the Hall of Fame, including Randy Moss, Brian Dawkins, Brian Urlacher, Jerry Kramer, Robert Brazile and Bobby Beathard.
