Arduino, the open-source computer hardware and software company, announced new affordable "Nano" microcontroller boards at the Maker Faire Bay Area last weekend.

Arduino is the Italian open-source computer hardware and software company announced a new family of affordable, microcontroller boards at last weekend’s Maker Faire Bay Area 2019.

“The new Nanos are for those millions of makers who love using the Arduino IDE for its simplicity and open source aspect, but just want a great value, small and powerful board they can trust for their compact projects,” said Massimo Banzi, co-founder of the Arduino project.

The company’s press release explains that these boards offer high quality and reliability, with a cheaper price tag. The microcontroller boards are also compatible with classic Arduino boards and boast low energy consumption. They’re also equipped with powerful processors.

There are four new boards available:

  • Arduino Nano Every
  • Arduino Nano 33 IoT
  • Arduino Nano 33 BLE
  • Arduino Nano BLE Sense

Take a Look at the Four New Microcontroller Boards

Firstly, the Arduino Nano Every is your “everyday” board, hence the name. It’s useful for the projects you’re regularly working on DIY projects. It can be bought with or without headers. This board is an upgrade of the classic Arduino Nano.

“With prices from as low as $9.90 for the Nano Every, this family fills that gap in the Arduino range, providing makers with the Arduino quality they deserve for those everyday projects,” said Massimo Banzi,

Secondly, the Arduino Nano 33 IoT is internet-connected yet also small and secure, according to Arduino. Arduino Nano 33 BLE is also very small, Bluetooth-connected, and low-power. Finally, Arduino Nano BLE Sense is Bluetooth-connected, small and low-power but also has a range of onboard sensors.

Visit the Arduino shop to find out more information about the new Nano family. These boards will be available in June, but it’s possible to pre-order them now.
