Anycubic Kobra X: Fail a Print, Get Free Filament?

The move is to soothe the pre-print jitters of early adopters of this new printer, promising direct support and even compensation if the machine stumbles out of the gate.

First things first, the fine print. This isn’t a blanket amnesty for all failed prints. The guarantee applies specifically to Kobra X orders placed between December 26 and February 15, and is valid for 30 days post-delivery. Crucially, it only triggers on Anycubic’s optimized “Official Performance Benchmark” model that ships with the printer. That means you don’t get to slice a complex multi-day print and cry foul when that fails. Anycubic has built rails into the system to prevent abuse.

If that specific benchmark print fails, Anycubic says its engineering team will review the setup and results to diagnose the cause. If they deem the failure a result of “hardware or system-related factors,” the company promises a tailored guidance plan to fix it and, perhaps more interestingly, two free spools of PLA as compensation for any wasted material. Anycubic notes these will be sent from current stock with no color choice, so don’t expect to be able to pick what you get.

By contrast, if the failure is diagnosed simply as user error – setup or operational quirks – you still get the technical guidance to get things up and running, but no free filament for you.

All that said, the initiative serves a functional purpose beyond marketing. Anycubic notes that analyzing this “standardized first-print data” allows them to refine default profiles and issue OTA updates. In short, the guarantee encourages early users to provide the specific validation data the company needs to tune the machine for the wider userbase. It’s a novel take on the typical arrangement of early adopters being the willing (or unwitting) beta-testers for new hardware. At least this way, Anycubic is on the hook to help if things aren’t going well.

You can secure the Anycubic Kobra X with a $10 deposit until January 15.
