Adidas Launches Yohji Yamamoto Designed Y-3 RUNNER 4D II Sneakers
Adidas expands its line of Futurecraft 4D sneakers with the release of the Y-3 RUNNER 4D II. Produced using Carbon's speedy 3D printing technology and designed by Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, sneaker connoisseurs are sure to get a kick out of these.
Adidas continues its exploration into using new technologies, design, and collaborations to provide the best sneaker for every athlete with the launch of Y-3 RUNNER 4D II.
The German shoe manufacturer started Futurecraft, a program which uses 3D printing to enhance parts of the production process, back in 2017. To do this, Adidas began working with Carbon, the Silicon Valley 3D printing company, to develop soles using its Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) technology.
Y-3 RUNNER 4D II is the latest sneaker to come out of Futurecraft. Sporting the distinctive Carbon-printed sole, the new pair stands apart thanks to Adidas’ collaboration with fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, who has given the shoe its cool look.
Adidas explains on the Y-3 website: “Yohji Yamamoto is known for the avant-garde spirit of his clothing, His signature oversized silhouettes in black often feature drapery in varying textures.”
Expect to Pay $600 for this 3D Printed Shoe
This shoe is designed for Spring/Summer and has a Bone/White sole and a double-layer Primeknit upper. Yamamoto leaves his mark on the tongue of the shoe where there are three contrasting stripes and his signature.
In January, Adidas launched Y-3 RUNNER 4D II in Red. This Bone/White iteration sees a few changes. For example, you can expect a wider footbed and a thicker and higher midsole.
A wearer’s grip and traction are also improved thanks to a collaboration between Adidas and Continental, a German automotive manufacturing company, resulting in a new rubber outsole.
This sneaker is limited-edition so they won’t be available forever. You can also expect to part ways with $600 to procure a pair. Find them online and at Y-3 stores on their release date of May 2nd, 2019.
