The 3D Printing Handbook is a beautifully designed new reference work from 3D Hubs. We weren’t invited to supply a puff quote, unfortunately.

Decent reference books for 3D printing are pretty scarce. There’s 3D Printing for Dummies by Richard Horne and Kalani Kirk Hausman, now in its second edition. There’s a selection of books published by MAKE magazine that are effectively repackaged articles. And that’s about it.

It’s a book. About 3D printing. It’s called The 3D Printing Handbook.

Until today, that is. The additive manufacturing service provider 3D Hubs has published a handsome tome called The 3D Printing Handbook.

“We aimed to make this the most comprehensive book on 3D printing currently available,” says George Fisher-Wilson, 3D Hubs Communication Manager.

“With over 300 pages of actionable design advice and decision making tools, it reads unlike any other engineering book, full of easy-to-understand diagrams and inspiring visuals.”

This book is for engineers and designers to learn about the potential of 3D printing for professional applications. It will also help to address common misconceptions about the industry.

The Dutch Startup is pretty happy with the publication of The 3D Printing Handbook. They reckon they’ve democratized their expert knowledge into something more broadly accessible.

The 3D Printing Handbook is Available Now

Working with a wide range of academics and industry experts, The 3D Printing Handbook features contributions from Volkswagen, The University of Oxford, and Desktop Metal. It also has inputs from Carbon, Ultimaker, ExOne, Boeing, Markforged, Stratasys, Concept Laser, Envisiontec, and more.

Divided into 20 chapters, the book clearly explains all major 3D printing technologies, together with their benefits and limitations.

With a clean layout and visuals, the book is not meant to be read from front to back. Instead, the navigation is designed for readers to quickly find the information they seek.

“The Handbook will help to guide you on your own path as you look to leverage 3D printing and its potential.”

The 3D Printing Handbook also features a foreword by Tony Fadell, creator of the iPod and founder of Nest.

“The Handbook will help to guide you on your own path as you look to leverage 3D printing and its potential to create your own breakthrough products,” he writes.

“Every designer and engineer should keep it close as it paves your way into new manufacturing technologies that will spur your creativity and unlock your ideas as they become reality.”

Fancy a copy of your own? The 3D Printing Handbook is available to buy now from all good bookshops.
