Decent reference books for 3D printing are pretty scarce. There’s 3D Printing for Dummies by Richard Horne and Kalani Kirk Hausman, now in its second edition. There’s a selection of books published by MAKE magazine that are effectively repackaged articles. And that’s about it.

Until today, that is. The additive manufacturing service provider 3D Hubs has published a handsome tome called The 3D Printing Handbook.

The Dutch Startup is pretty happy with the publication of The 3D Printing Handbook. They reckon they’ve democratized their expert knowledge into something more broadly accessible.

Working with a wide range of academics and industry experts, The 3D Printing Handbook features contributions from Volkswagen, The University of Oxford, and Desktop Metal. It also has inputs from Carbon, Ultimaker, ExOne, Boeing, Markforged, Stratasys, Concept Laser, Envisiontec, and more.

Divided into 20 chapters, the book clearly explains all major 3D printing technologies, together with their benefits and limitations.

With a clean layout and visuals, the book is not meant to be read from front to back. Instead, the navigation is designed for readers to quickly find the information they seek.
