I don’t know about you, but I was always fascinated when walking into a watch store and looking at the various stands displaying watches. I loved the fact that the watches stood upright. Somehow it made the watches look more appealing and interesting. Of course, once the watch came home the box normally disappeared because it was too much trouble to put it back on its watch stand every day.

With the advent of 3D printing, all sorts of watch stands are being created. The watch stand called Stand_Float by Japanese designer Masa provides a simple to use base for storing or displaying your watch. Masa uses the traditional Japanese Kimekomi method: Fabric is overlayed onto the printed material, or suede is placed in the center plate part for better traction and hold.

Masa’s Stand_Float is available at the Sculpteo store. It can be made of plastic or alumide. The plastic stands are available in various colors and finishes. Prices depend on the material used and on the finish: They range from €12 to €17 or $11 to $15.
