Mouse bungees are a common piece of computer gaming equipment that minimizes tension on the mouse cable. Only necessary for wired mouses, they elevate the mouse’s wire to allow a full range of motion. While this type of equipment is fairly inexpensive, professional bungees go up to around $30. 3D printing your own is also a good option.

What Does It Do?

Having a mouse bungee can improve aim and decrease the strength needed to swivel the mouse, majorly affecting your game. If you’ve used one before, you’ll understand what we mean.

But for those of you who haven’t, why not print one and try it out! 3D printing a mouse bungee will cost significantly less than buying one, and it’ll use a minimal amount of filament.

In this article, we’ll be reviewing our 10 favorite mouse bungees. If you see one that you like and want to get it 3D printed professionally, try Craftcloud by All3DP. With an impressive range of materials and finishes, you’re assured of the highest quality end product, delivered right to your door.

This mouse bungee uses ball bearings to spin the arm that holds the mouse cable. The design allows for low-friction, free movement of your mouse that’ll get rid of the tension bungee-less cords have. With six 3D printed parts and updated files, this option seems like a winner.

The maker states that all the parts can be printed without supports, but provides no further printing tips. However, a recorded maker posted a successful print in PLA that had a 0.2-mm layer height and 20% infill.

This bungee towers over your desk in a three-legged design. There’s a semi-circular gap that runs from the bottom to the top of the bungee, where the cord goes. The elevation is what reduces the tension from the desk or wherever the device your mouse is plugged into is located.

The model’s dimensions are 99 x 99 x 130 mm and the designer recommends printing with 15% infill. No supports, brims, or rafts needed.

This mouse bungee easily clips onto your mouse pad, automatically giving your mouse cord some slack. The design has two clip features, one for the mouse cable and one for the mouse pad. As the designer says, the mouse bungee prevents the wire from going wild!

The creator provided no printing tips, so we suggest looking at similar models to get a good idea of how you should print this model.

This wide-frame mouse bungee is going for stability. Your mouse’s cord is meant to run through the middle of the bungee frame and be propped up in the air. It should be thin enough to bend when the mouse moves rapidly, but thick enough so it doesn’t break.

The maker suggests using double-sided tape for attaching the mouse bungee to your desk. The designer provided no printing details, however, a recorded maker printed it in PLA using a 0.2-mm layer height, 15% infill, and no supports. In the comments, a few satisfied people used PETG as well.

This simple mouse bungee offers a low-elevation solution to your mouse connection getting tangled. The design has been through multiple versions and is now just two pieces that screw into each other. Easy!

The maker listed the design’s dimensions as 30 x 30 x 15 mm and also listed that the model is support free. You can either tape it to your desk or screw it into the wall.

Remixed from deLamorDesign, this mouse bungee uses weight from coins to hold the base down. The cord runs along a semi-circular hole (the white piece in the photo above) to elevate it and reduce tension. The design can fit 4.5-mm thick cables and has three versions, each with a different elevation.

The designer suggests printing using settings provided by LOHTEC on YouTube. If you don’t want to use those settings, a recorded maker used a 0.2-mm layer height with no supports. This bungee print only requires about 15 grams of material!

Like ducks? So did this maker: the frame of this mouse bungee is in the shape of a duck’s foot. The bungee incorporates an M8 thread screw to elevate the wire higher than your base. The maker states that the hole should fit any sized wire, too! There’s also a modification for the cord holder piece that can be printed and used to transform this model into a phone holder.

The designer provided no printing tips other than that it requires no supports.

Monitor Clip

This cord bungee is meant to clip on to your monitor to prevent any pull from gravity on the cord. The design is meant for a Benq XL2420Z 144 Hz gaming monitor, but because many monitors have a similar thickness, simply scaling the model’s X and Y measurements should make it work.

You’ll need two small cable or zip ties to hold the cord in place. The maker suggests printing the model with a 0.2-mm layer height and 30% infill. No supports or raft needed.

This one is similar to the previous model, but clips to your desk instead of your monitor. The model was designed in Fusion 360 to fit a 17-mm thick desk and Zowie cables, but the designer provided the file so that you can scale the model to fit your desk and cord.

The designer didn’t provide any printing tips, only that the model is 24 x 24 x 24 mm in size and support free.

Lastly, the Mouse Scorpion is another elevating mouse bungee that uses a semi-circular indentation to favorably position your cord.  The design allows slack to your mouse’s cable for swiveling the mouse with more ease.

The creator of this model suggests printing with a 0.2-mm layer height as well as a 30% infill. You should leave the model the way it’s oriented in the design file when printing and use supports everywhere. You may need to sand down the mouse cord slot depending on the size of the mouse cord.
